Scotland Under-19s V.
Emerging Great Britain Under-19s.
Score: Match Cancelled
Date: June 30th
2002 Venue: Cockermouth RUFC, Cumbria
Unforeseen difficulties faced by the Great
Britain management meant that the long awaited fixture against the
Scotland Under-19s squad was unfortunately cancelled. However the
Scotland Under-19s used the weekend in Cockermouth to their
advantage gaining valuable training with the Student side,
assisting them in their own development. The weekend also provided
an opportunity to see the strength and skill expected at this
level by witnessing the Scotland Students versus English Students
match. The Scotland under-19s side received vital preparation time
for their forthcoming tour which departs on 13th July
to France and Italy. The under-19s will be part of a combined
squad with the Student international side competing with teams
such as Italy and the Russian state Tartarstan. Scotland's tour
will be an exceptional one as they fly the flag for British
Student and Under-19s rugby league, and they will be the first
Scotland side to have played in Italy for 40 years. It is hoped
that the tour will offer challenging fixtures for both the
Students and Under-19s, and that this will provide them with the
depth of experience to achieve Great Britain honours.
