It was a softball team that won many titles over the years. When the team broke up John Marshall took over the name and registered a business called HTB Athletic Club. It had many organized sports including softball, basketball and bowling. But never football. After playing flag football in another league for 7 seasons, John decided to strike out on his own with a flag football league to add to his club. John hooked up with George Assenza (Suffolk Director) and in 2003 the HTB Flag Football League was formed. It featured an adult league (19 or older) with 12 teams in its very first season. After a successful year John & George thought it would be a great idea to offer flag football to youths (6-14 years) in their towns. They both were hoping to get about 100 kids to join for the first season. So with flyers and the school districts help with distribution, an explosion occurred. Suddenly 368 children joined, making up 26 teams in 3 divisions, and the HTBFFL Youth program was born.
Today, we continue to put our full effort into making the HTBFFL enjoyable for all ages with more fields and larger expansion.
