NUMEROLOGY & THE HOROSCOPE

Using numerology to delineate a horoscope can lead to greater understanding of the person in the chart. Numerology, like astrology, is based on the premise that we are all born on a certain date, hour and minute not merely by chance, but to learn important lessons during our lives. The term for this concept was coined synchronicity by the Austrian psychiatrist Carl Jung who described such events as meaningful coincidences. Like astrology, numerology deals with character analysis to help answer the question, who am I? These two sciences used conjuctively help us to further clarify and add flavour to the natal horoscope to add meaning to delineation.

Computing the numerical equivalent of a degree is a relatively simple process because the two digits, which compose the degree are merely added together. For example, if one has his natal Sun posited in the 22nd degree of Libra, his numerical equivalent is 4, or 2 + 2. The core numbers used to give an astro-numerological synthesis are: -

Zero can bring about powerful occurrences to help important transformations occur to allow for growth. At times it can be very extreme, so caution must be exercised. Zero is associated with the planet Pluto and the sign of Scorpio, thus giving it intense qualities. Because zero is the only number between negative and positive, it represents the boundaries in life that we must face.

One is egocentric because it is very focused. It represents the loner in all of us; and has few true friends and many acquaintances. This number likes to be centre stage and will have a tendency to behave in ways that attract attention. One, the first number, has many unique properties in mathematics, thus highlighting it in the chart. One is associated with the Sun and the sign Leo, and is identified with the conjunction, so therefore is highly intensified wherever it appears in the chart.

Two is nurturing, caring, and relates specifically to partnerships, family and commitment. It is emotional, so can be reactive rather than proactive. Two represents the receptive side of ourselves and relates best when amongst a crowd. Two corresponds with the Moon and the sign Cancer, and is associated with the opposition, so confronts us with conflicting issues to help maintain harmony in our lives.

Three is considered to be lucky and represents wisdom and philosophy. Three is an expansive number that relates to foreign travel and the expression of our experiences through story telling. This number is associated with the planet Jupiter and the sign Sagittarius. It represents money and fortune, so vast resources can be expected to be expended. Three is associated with the trine, thus associating it with opportunities and ease.

Four represents stability, control and building for the future. It carries with it much energy, which needs to be properly channeled so positive results can be achieved. Four is associated with the planet Mars and the sign Aries, thus endowing it with properties of authority and force. This number corresponds with the aspect called the square and as a consequence can be difficult, as conflict and frustrations must be dealt with.

Five is analytical, rational and inquisitive. The energy of this number rules those who would be of service to others. It is communicative, so correspondence in the form of letters; faxes and telephone calls will prevail. This number is associated with the planet Mercury and the signs Gemini and Virgo. Five corresponds with the aspect called the quintile, which is associated with genius, especially with regard to mathematics.

Six is tactful, diplomatic and often a mediator. It governs contractual agreements such as marriages or business arrangements. This number corresponds with the planet Venus and the signs Libra and Taurus. Six is associated with the aspect called the sextile, thus indicating that a free flow of energy will occur to bring opportunities and success.

Seven is a very illusive number, which can be difficult to pin down because of its changability. Although it is spiritual, it can also be deceptive, so any sincerity expressed must be double-checked for duplicity. Seven is associated with the planet Neptune and the sign Pisces.

Eight is the number of one’s karma, which must be faced in this lifetime. It is somber and can bring restrictive influences that must be worked around if success is to be ultimately achieved. Eight is associated with the planet Saturn and the sign Capricorn, so success will tend to come later in life.

In ancient times nine was considered to be a sacred number, so its influence will bring about much change to turn events around in the most unusual of circumstances, thus allowing for maximum growth. Nine is associated with the planet Uranus and the sign Aquarius, and therefore brings a breath of fresh air wherever it is found.
