Death of a Prostitute

By: Tracy Porter

Copyright 1999

Shortly after 3.00am on 9th June 1995, Maureen was strangled in her flat in Bradford, England. Addicted to heroin from the age of 13, Maureen had turned to prostitution in order to pay £150 a day for the drug. While her killer had previously sexually assaulted and elderly woman and strangled another prostitute, he nonetheless convinced the authorities that he was not a danger to others and was allowed to freely roam the streets.

A look at the chart erected for the time and death of the killing will yield information significant to the climate that prevailed at the time Maureen met her killer.

Pisces on the cusp of the 12th House indicates that heroin addiction was at the root of the problem. The stabilising force of Saturn placed in this house shows that Maureen tried to overcome her addiction but unfortunately, heroin is a difficult drug to control and she was therefore unsuccessful.

Sagittarius is placed on the cusp of the 8th House of the unacceptable, and the best way to describe this placement is the ‘sex sells’. Maureen was a very attractive girl with a very low self-esteem. On some level she felt that the only thing that her body was the only thing in the world that she had to give, so that is what she did.

Jupiter, ruler of the 8th House, forms a T-square to Mercury and Mars. Mars governs the male energy factor and is the ancient ruler of the sign of death, Scorpio. Mars posited in the 6th House of health, forms a square to Jupiter and Mercury, which put friction into the situation. It appears that money was at the root of the murder. Maureen had to turn to prostitution to fund her heroin habit. It just so happens that on that night she was unlucky enough to meet her killer, who had previously killed another prostitute because of a dispute over money.

Saturn forms a sextile to Venus is the 1st House reflects that Maureen was an attractive person with a pleasant disposition, thus giving her a great deal of appeal to those who would like to use her in some way.

Pluto, placed in its home sign of Scorpio in the 7th House shows that on some level Maureen identified with the people who she met in the course of her work. Pluto forms a trine to Saturn, and this indicates the intensity of world she lived in. Even though Maureen had been raped and assaulted the week before she died, she nonetheless continued as a prostitute in order to fund her drug habit. Pluto forms an opposition to Venus, which indicates that she in a struggle within herself. On the one hand, Maureen wanted to be what to be what society expected of her, and on the other, she was unable to extricate herself from the more sinister side of life.

Neptune and Uranus forming a conjunction in Capricorn illuminate the dubious nature of this placement. These two planets placed in the sign of Capricorn indicate that the government played an important part in this saga. Maureen spent her 16th birthday in a secure home. She got a job and began a methadone program. Maureen wanted a place of her own, so the social services stepped in and gave her a flat in an area that was riddled with hard drugs. Within a short period of time, Maureen had gone back to her previous lifestyle of working the streets and using heroin.

Maureen’s killer had a long history of murderous violence towards women, yet he nonetheless was free to walk the streets and felt that he had impunity to do whatever he liked. Maureen’s mother stated that the killer went for a prostitute because he thought he could get away with it. The killer believed Maureen did not have a family and that no one loved her, and that is why he selected her.

The Uranus/Neptune conjunction forms a sextile to the Pluto/Saturn trine, and this further illuminates the extreme nature of what transpired. On a subliminal level, the killer felt that he had the authority to act as he did.
