Hi, I am Rob, and I contribute to this page often and I asked Kate if I could do a CD review page and she agreed so here I am.

HOW I REVIEW

Ok, I review each album with a maximum of 5 stars (5 being best 1 being worst) and please don’t send bad email to Kate if you don’t agree with the reviews because they are of my opinion so send mail here (rob's email is Urzishra14@aol.com) send me the mail!

“GO”- H2O

4 stars

This is actually an extremely well put together cd. The production is great, the music H2O NYHC at its finest. The cover of the the madonna song kinda sounded a little metallica (yeah kinda makes you wonder if metallica really is pop music to lame ass guitars?) but yeah it is a great release. you may have heard "Role Model" on the radio it is one of the stand out tracks on record.

“punk o rama 2001”- V/A

4 stars

I thought this was one of the best punk o ramas ever so its getting 4 stars, I always like what epitaph puts out every year only disappointment was lack of unreleased stuff. What an old as dirt Bad Religion song? Another song from Rancid 2000? Union 13? Punk o rama 6 is a great way to spend that extra change money you get at the mall.

“Straight Ahead”- Pennywise

4 stars

This was the first pennywise full length I bought and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a great listen I like how pennywise incorporates awesome palm muted bass and guitar riffs and Jim’s voice just completes this as the band for the working class punk rock fan. Don’t miss these guys if you are lucky enough to catch them at warped this year.

“pump up the valuum”- NOFX

3 stars

What? NOFX getting 3 stars?!?! Yeah, after hearing what could have been on the album (punk o rama 5’s “pump up the valuum”, live fat die young’s “san fran fat” and lower and punk o rama 6’s “bath of least resistance” um pods and gods) this could have been a much better album. The songs that did make it are all great NOFX music but I can do without all the lesbian and nasty songs (like “louise” and “My vagina”) I think id rather spend time educating then talking about nasty sex fetishes if it did have the less nasty sex songs and added like pods and gods and san fran fat and all those other unreleased songs from this session it would have been a 5 still a great buy tho!

“Free Salt Lake” – Politically Erect

4 ½ stars

I know most of you have no clue of how these guys are so ill give you some background. They are from Salt Lake (obviously) and they play “old school” style hardcore. Think like DK’s lyrical genius and like TSOL music. The reason why they didn’t get to 5 stars is because there is only 8 songs on their debut EP and I think in the local SLC scene we are going to be seeing lots of these guys soon. (you can buy their EP at www.interpunk.com in the local section and click on Utah you’d be surprised how many people don’t know that Salt Lake is in utah)

"The Show"- Various

3 stars

a good buy, not particularly worth the price, (i think i spent like 15 bucks or something)buy this one used, its a good cd lots of rare tracks make this one worth getting (yeah and hear blink 182 before they ruined a good song) its kinda like a punk o rama crossed with a fat wreck comp but with some new bands and thats a good thing it just gets generic after a few listens not enough to keep someone entertained for hours i like it but borrow it or buy it used :)

"eve 6"- eve 6

4 stars

this is an incredible cd, other than the fact then like some of the songs could have been done without (jesus nitelite and showerhead) it is a great cd with great mellow pop punk stuff it isnt bad religion punk but it isnt backstreet boys pop and you might learn something from it if you listen hard enough!

"Roll On"- The Living End

5 stars

this is a given, it is by far one of the best cds i have ever heard if you havent heard of the living end they sound like old stray cats mixed with rancid and modern punk they write incredible songs and the cool thing their bassist plays an old time stand up bass guitar which is way rad go get this one

"Land Of The Free?"-Pennywise

4 1/2 stars

wow, is all i can say about this release, i heard the two songs mr. brett gave us ("The world" and "time marches on") and those were enough to convince this long time pennywise fan that this cd wasnt as bad as most reviewers across the net, even tho they have that "pennywise" sound on all their records it just keeps getting recorded better and better and this release is by far their hardest clean sounding awesome one to date if you hate how pennywise plays music you will hate it. only real problem i had with it was it wasnt better musically then "straight ahead" if you are first out buying a pennywise cd get "about time" or "full circle" and then get this awesome release. they lyrics alone should be worth the 12 bucks!

"Against The Grain"- Bad Religion

5 stars!

you should own this one you will learn lots about socialiology and philosopy and just good plain ole punk rock this one should be right next to your copy of "london calling" and "and out come the wolves"

ok kids thats all for this edition. expect more coming in and out periodically.
