Planned Parenthood Appoinment

An awkward waiting room.
Faced with the receptionist's cold stares.
And uncomfortable green chairs
Set up in a row.
Crane your neck to see the tv.
A Disney movie playing softly.
There is nothing Disney about this moment.

Pamphlets line the white walls.
Boyfriend pressuring you?
Say no, you really don't have to.
And you think to yourself
"Unless you want to keep him around."
Different types of birth control.
The truth about STDs.
Sex couldn't get more unromantic.

Finally your name is called.
Step into the dim lit hall.
Morning After Pill information hung on a wall.
Enter the room on your right.
Taken into account is your blood pressure, weight, and height.
Awkward questions asked from a lady in blue.
Before you enter the room on the left.

Stripped from the waist down.
Intruding fingers and uncomfortable pressure
. It lasts only a few seconds, but it feels like forever.
Re-dress yourself with a sigh of relief.
"Thank God thats over."
The nurse hands you
A goody bag of condoms and a free month supply of pills.
Don't forget to take them at the same time each day.

And as you head out the door.
Dizziness surrounds you.
Your face grows pale.
And as your leg's stability begins to fail.
You ask yourself
"What am I doing?"
And fall to the floor.

You may be protected from pregnancy and STDS
But what is there to protect you from emptiness?
Nothing.
Once the deed is done
Your virginity won't be restored.
There will be no cure
When you feel like a wrecked immoral whore.
