Fr'dyre was seated on his large, deep brown bondmate's back, an arm lovingly rested on the dragon's shoulder. Both dragon and rider watched D'lrik intently, Fr'dyre concentrating on the words being shaped, his brown listening closely. Finally, Fr'dyre shook his head apologetically, turning to his dragon. Xhishoth, what does the Weyrlingmaster say? He's too far to see.

Indeed, it had been difficult to get close. All eight droagon-rider pairs were assembled, and Xhishoth commented with satisfaction that none had even been close to being abandoned. However, they were all now fully grown, and three greens, two blues, and three browns, including Xhishoth's sizable bulk, tended to take up a lot of space. Since Xhishoth was so large, as big as many bronzes, he had been relegated to the back.

Sorry, Fr'dyre. Xhishoth's mellow voice sounded clearly in the silence of his rider's mind. But the greenriders said I was plenty big enough to see. How could I refuse? They're so lovely!

Fr'dyre grinned at his sentimental dragon. I'm not blaming you, dragon mine. Although I didn't know you'd be interested in your own clutchmates... Never mind. Just, translate, please?

I will. The brown's mind voice took on a light baritone timbre, and Fr'dyre guessed he was mimicking D'lrik. Well done, guys and gals. Well done indeed. You're free to go or stay as you please - though we'd love to have talented riders such as yourselves stay here, right, Aurekinth? Aurekinth agrees, Xhishoth interjected. If you are staying on at Ryslen, please talk to Weyrleader J'kosh as soon as possible to get your wing assignment. If you know anybody who wants to transfer here, tell them to talk to J'kosh too. He won't bite. Other than that, you're dismissed! Stepping down from the platform where he had stood, D'lrik passed around the pins of Ryslen riders.

Proudly rubbing the little pin now a permenant part of his  apparel, Fr'dyre questioned his brown, So, Xhi, what do we do now? Stay here, or go somewhere else?

Xhishoth considered. Well, I have heard of a newly founded Weyr, called Abri, that is looking for a good Wingleader. I told the Weyrharper's dragon to save a place for us...

You think we should go there? We could be a wonderful team, dragon mine.

I do. But, he raised a wing to hold Fr'dyre, who had risen, down. Not yet. I'd like to stay at Ryslen for a little longer.

Why? Xhi, I think you do this just to tease me.

I've a better reason. A beautiful, green reason.

Find out who Xhishoth has fallen for?
