Mawu
Mawu is fsar too elevated to be concerned with the affairs of men. There are no shrines or priests in his name. Prayer to him is conducted privately. The correct sacrifice to him is a sheep.
Mawu is far too powerful to be drwn to earth, no matter how powerful the sourcerer.
Mawu is combined with Lisa to form a male/female god called Mawu-Lisa. In this form thew god is the ancestor of all the gods of Dahomey.
The Fon of Benin in West Africa believe that Mawu is a goddess, identified with the moon, who created everything. she gave birth to a son, Lisa who is identified with the sun. Sun and moon combined to make a single god, referred to as King of the Gods.
