the Lake, The next morning

| When
Christine awakens, she approaches the
Phantom, who does not see her, she
finally succeeds in tearing the mask from
his face. He springs up and rounds on her
furiously. She clearly sees his face.
Later he holds out his hand for the mask,
which she gives to him. He puts it on.
Then brings her back to the Opera House. |

Buquet, chief of the
flys tells the ballet girls tales of the
Opera Ghost. later, the Phantom takes his
revenge and Buquet will hang from the
flys.

Scene 8 The
Manager's Office
The Managers of the
Opera, Raoul, and Carlotta all receive
letters from the Phantom giving them
instructions as to his wishes. In unision
they decide to defy the Phantoms' orders.

Scene 9 A
Performance of 'Il Muto'
During the performance
of 'Il Muto' Carlotta, instead of
singing, emits a great croak , like a
toad. A stunned silence, Carlotta is as
amazed as anyone, but regains herself and
continues. more perturbing, however, is a
new sound: The Phantom is laughing-
quietly at first, then more and more
hysterically. Carlotta looks tearfully up
at the Managers' box and shakes her head
saying she cannot continue. At which
point the Managers address the audience,
telling them that the part will be taken
over by Christine Daae. During the ballet
intermission the body of Buquet falls
onto the stage. Causing pandemonium.
Raoul grabs Christine and they head for
the Opera roof.

Scene 10 The
Roof of the Opera House

Left Christine and
Raoul on the roof of the Opera House. She
tells him all about the Phantom, but
unknown to them her betrayal is heard in
its entirety by the Phantom
After he hears them
confess their love for each other he
curses them both. Later the chandelier
comes crashing down.
