This song was composed in the wake of a fatal accident in Canberra on 10 February 2003 in which a 22 year old father lost his 22 year-old pregnant wife but their 7-weeks premature baby girl was safely delivered and their 10mth old boy also survived. (Sadly the baby girl died 8 days later.)
Verse 1
D G D
Some things we may never understand
Bm G A
But we know He holds them in His hand
D G D
We juggle the balls up in the air
Bm G A
Heaven only knows where they will land
G D/F# G D/F#
But I’m sure of this one thing:
Em D/F# G A D
He has it all under command
Chorus
G A D G A D
In His mighty hand, Nations rise and fall
G A Bm G A
In His mighty hand, One lives, one dies, and one is born
G A D G A D
In His mighty hand, We may run or crawl
G A Bm
Though our paths erode
G A D
In His mighty hand, We have the strength to bear the load
Verse 2
That He loves me I can’t understand
That He loves to hold me in His hand
When my life’s a mess, He’s the One who cares
And He fits the pieces in His plan
But I am sure of this one thing
He has it all under command
