When she heard this part of the bargain Atalaya turned to her husband and asked, "Are you sure this is wise?"
     He reached out and took her hand in the darkness. "Don't worry, my dear. I have a plan."
     For all of the following day the Cabinetmaker worked on putting his plan to catch Understump into action. First, he emptied out his workroom except for a single bench with a shiny, red apple on it. Then he got out his wood glue and slopped the sticky stuff all over his shop. He put it on the floor. He put it on the walls. He even put it on the ceiling.
     "That ought to do it," he said as he dabbed the last of his glue just inside his workroom door.
     With that done, he called out to Understump that he was ready to try to catch him. "What must I do?" Understump asked from behind Gregorio's chair.
