ROAREYE!

Made in 1991!
Sonic the Hedgehog-Mega Drive/Genesis
This is the first ever Sonic game created. The Master System version was released a few months after. Since this is going in time order, then this seemed to be the first place. The pic to the left is the Jap box (I own PAL, US, JAP in mint) and has the best version of the book.
This game is the first game of Sonic, and it was a quickfire hit! Never before had a game gone so fast, done loop-the-loops and ruined your social life so badly. This was the major game and is regarded by some people to still be the best. The sounds are clear, the graphics are great and colourful and the variety of levels is big. A game you can't be without if you own a Mega Drive/Genesis.

Sonic The Hedgehog-Master System/Game Gear
This was a follow-up to the Mega Drive version as releasing it on another of their consoles would bring in more money. It hadn't lost it's charm and, even though not as fast, it possessed the crucial Sonic element to make people rush out and buy it. Mistaken, sometimes, as being the first Sonic game.
The colours are still there, the backgrounds are amazing for an 8 bit console and the gameplay is fast and it's gripping. This doesn't play similar to the first Mario but it's just as gripping.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2-Mega Drive/Genesis
The fat guy and blur blur are back but this time an orange blur is close behind. Miles 'Tails' Prower as he was usually called in this game to prove he had a normal name but nobody cared and they changed it to just Tails. This game had THE best special stages in the entire Mega Drive/Genesis series (Not including Sonic CD) because of the way they were made. They were redone later on the PC and Saturn versions of Sonic 3D Flickies Island/Blast but they weren't done so well. This is still regarded as THE best Sonic game as it reached number 12 in the top 100 games of all time polls in GamesMaster in 1999-2000!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2-Master System/Game Gear
The Master System and Game Gear version's sequels did include Tails! You couldn't play as him, but his sprites were all included in the game suggesting he was going to be playable at one point in the game's creation life. The story is that Tails has been captured by robotnik and Sonic's job is to retrieve the Chaos Emeralds and save his friend. Regarded by some as the hardest Sonic game to complete, especially on the Game Gear, this is not a game for any Casual gamers to try to complete with everything.

Sonic The Hedgehog Chaos/Sonic And Tails-Master System/Game Gear
This was the only sonic game to include a speedcount. At the end of every stage, you'd be rated in KM/h and the highest was 999 (My top score's 857!) but other than that, it's a very basic Sonic game. That's not to say it's not good, on the contrary, it's very good and has the Sonic charm that every Sonic game usually comes with, but it's rather basic. It's not too hard to complete, but the chaos Emerald levels get harder near the end. The only Sonic game on the Master System (That I've played) That sends you off to another place to retreave Chaos Emeralds and you HAD to press up at a certain point in the Green emerald's stage otherwise you'd have literally no chance of getting it! This is a good game, and definately worth buying, it's just that-other than the speedcount- it's just a normal Sonic game.

Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball-Mega Drive/Genesis
This is, as the game name suggests, a Pinball Sonic game. You must collect all of the (12!) Chaos Emeralds in the game and then beat a boss at the end of each level. Then you have the Bonus Rounds where you have an objective to do something-they are hilarious. This is a definative buy if you're looking for a game that challenges AND gives you alot of fun. There may be only four levels, but they are big, long and VERY hard!

Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine-Mega Drive/Genesis
The 'Sonic' game without Sonic and a really long name. It's like Tetris in a way only alot better. you have different coloured beans. If you get four in a row they disappear and you get a score. For bigger scores (And to knock more clear beans into your opponents screen) you have to make more than one group line up and disappear from another bean dropping down etc... Clear beans are hard to remove because they can only disappear with another set of colours. This is a great game that'll test your wits and your speed, especially toward the later levels. A pure work of genius.

Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine-Master System/Game Gear
I own all the different console's Mean Bean Machine games. The Game Gear and Master System versions are not the work of genius from the MD/Genesis counterpart, but a poor down-graded version of it. The music's bad and poorly resampled and there are less options. The only thing these have over the MD/Genesis version is the fact that it had a Challenge mode in which you had to fulfill certain missions of bean grouping. These were, as the main game was, password saved.

Sonic Spinball-Master System/Game Gear
Sonic Spinball was great fun and a great game overall on the Mega Drive, but unfortunately the MS/GG versions fell into the same trap that DRMBM fell into, the downgraded game was in fact, poorer than it's 16 bit counterpart. This game has one advantage of the MS/GG version of DRMBM though, it's quite fun to play, making it an average game. Good for collectors, not so good for the normal person.

Made in 1993!
Sonic CD-Mega CD/Sega CD
The only Sonic game on the doomed Mega CD. The Mega CD was ace but was never really given a chance. Anyway, this game was one of the best games on the console and it was a really great game! The special stages were amazing and the one player was fantastic. The time-changing theory was taken stright from Sonic 2 BETA on the MD/Genesis as it was to include time travel but was after removed and put into this game. The sprites ARE from Sonic 1 on the MD/Genesis but with extra ones created and a whole platter of upgrades, this games graphics are better than most of it's proceeding titles (Mainly because the Mega CD was 32 bit). This game is still sometimes reffered to as the sonic game with the best music! If you own a Mega CD and don't own this then you're missing out, if you don't own a Mega CD then you're also missing out, as this game is literally one of the best Sonic games I've ever played!

Sonic 3-Mega Drive/Genesis
The first Sonic game ever to have an ACTUAL save facility! Instead of the password saves it was Cartridge-saves instead! Sonic 3 was the first half of Sonic and Knuckles. S&K and Sonic 3 were going to be one cart, but they couldn't fit it all into one cartridge, so Sonic Team did one of the most ingenius moves that is still known widely as a great idea, they brought out Sonic 3 with the save facility and S&K with the cart-to-cart compatibility. This also meant that they could manipulate other cartridges too. This is a great game with the multiplayer mode to tide you over and a wierd level select. Comes to the best with S&K.

Sonic and Knuckles-Mega Drive/Genesis
One of the most famous Sonic games to date. Anyone who's been playing games for a long time and has ever heard of Sonic, like him or not, will tell you the ingenius game of S&K! Attach it to Sonic 1 to play literally millions of Special Stages, Sonic 2 to play as Knuckles in the Sonic 2 levels and to Sonic 3 for the ultimate Mega Drive Sonic game! Without any games it's reasonably good, with Knuckles playable as well as sonic you can have a good one player experience. Plug in Sonic 3 and you can play as Tails, Sonic and Tails and even the competition modes! Also you can become Hyper sonic, Hyper Knuckles and super Tails by collecting the Great Emeralds! If you need to own two games on Mega Drive, then Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles are the best bets!

Sonic Triple Trouble/Sonic and Tails 2-Game Gear
How do I describe this game? It's one of the best Sonic games ever on Game Gear! With the ability to be either Sonic and Tails, this is alot better than the first S&T. With levels alot more varied, with Knuckles and Nack the Weasel trying to hinder your progress (and Nack failing, which is actually funny) and brilliant Special Stages, this is one of the best Sonic games on the Game Gear.

Sonic Drift 2-Game Gear
This is a great game. You can play as either Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, Robotnik, Nack or Metal Sonic and each ahve their own abilities. This is a superb racer with great graphics and fantastic gameplay with the addition of curvy walls which you can drive up and all sorts. A brilliant buy!

Tails Adventure-Game Gear
This is also one of the best Sonic games on Game Gear. Although not technically Sonic, as he isn't in it, his trusty companion has to go through a platform adventure which is very different from the usual running and rolling. Armed with an infinate supply of bombs and other devices, the engineer fox, which is Tails, has to discover why an army of ducks are attacking his holiday resort. With all the devices and even a sea adventure mode, this is one of the best on GG along with Sonic Triple Trouble!

Knuckles Chaotix-Sega 32X
This game was one of the only reasons to buy a 32X. Unfortunately, there was little else to help it sell the add-on. This game, however, didn't star Sonic. It was a game with Knuckles and the Chaotix crew. To play, you had to choose Knuckles or one of Chaotix and then select your partner as you were attached by 2 rings and their energy field. You could throw each other, use different tactics and there were mutliple ends to the levels. The gameplay itself was masterful. When two people were playing it could get hectic, but it's still the best two-player Sonic game ever. If you grab a friend and get onto this, you're guarranteed a brilliant laugh as you end up bouncing from pillar to post uncontrollbly.

Sonic Jam-Saturn
This isn't really a sonic game in it's own right. It's a great game to play if you're into the Sonic Boom that lasted for years, all the way back when Sonic was first released, but if you only want pure gaming and you own a Mega Drive/Genesis with Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles than this is a worthless buy.
For those that are entheusiastic on the Sonic experience however, will find this an ultimate game in your collecton! It has a record of Sonic events till 1997, all of Sonic Team's Sonic games on the Mega Drive/Genesis consoles(reminding that Spinball, Mean Bean and 3D Blast/Flickies Island weren't by Sonic Team). This also had a Sonic World in 3D, music, movies and adverts! If you're a Sonic entheusiast than you cannot be seen without this game, if you just like the games and own the ones already on here than it's bes to steer clear.
Not Markable.

Sonic R-Saturn
This is the third Sonic racing game released. This game is also one of the reasons why Sonic Xtreme was cancelled and therefore let Mario gat the title of the first 3D Platform Adventure. I don't have a problem with it for that though, but this game isn't as good as Sonic Xtreme. It's a nice enough game, with decent music, nice graphics and a straight speedy racer, but it's far tooshort, with only 5 levels and only four of them do you need to complete easy missions! If you own a Saturn and want a decent racer, than this is a good bet, but if you're looking for a racer that'll last long than it's best to look elsewhere.

Sonic 3D Blast/Flickies Island-Mega Drive/Genesis
I'm not sure whether it came out on the MD/Genesis in Japan, but it came out in the UK and US. This MD version is very good! One of the first Sonic games attempted by Travellers Tales, and it was brilliant. This game had the 3D-top right view, a new dimension of play and the Flickies played a good starring role(Unless you think Flicky is a good game)! The special stages are rubbish though. Having played this, the special stages are boring and slow. Apart from that though, there is plenty of challenge and alot of fun to be had. A great game for your Mega Drive/Genesis(I own both UK and US versions).

Sonic Adventure-Dreamcast
This is the first fully 3D adventure Sonic game. Since Xtreme was scrapped and Mario got the title of first platform adventure, everyone wondered what had happened to Sonic. Well, he came back with this and quaked the Earth for a short while. A mastered game for some time, this soon was realised for it's flaws rather than it's good points, which is always a bad thing to do. It's Adventure Fields were tedious sometimes and some of the characters were dull too(Big the main one). But you couldn't really fault Sonic's levels or the size of Knuckles' levels. Amy's were good to a point and it was always fun to play as Gamma. Tails was fun to play as, but the problem was that all his levels were just races in Sonic's levels. Big was VERY tiring and dull to play as. The game was great, Snowboarding and Sandboarding were great fun and the music was great too. The story was quite in-depth for the basic Sonic Vs Robotnik plots and it went quite smoothly. A great buy if you don't mind wondering aimlessly in Adventure Fields(which isn't bad) and fishing as Big(quite tedious).

Sonic Shuffle-Dreamcast
Despite what people have been saying about this game, it's much better than Mario Party! The only bad things are the characters' mouths when talking and the loading times. This game has killer mini-games and great board spaces. Improving on what Nintendo did so well, Sega has made a great, if not frustratingly hard, game. The 'Sonic Live' mini-game is similar to 'Mario Bandstand' but alot better. If you hate loading times that are longer than 10 seconds and going alone in a Party game to complete it, then steer clear, but for normal and skilled people this is a must on DC! You can't go through the Story mode in multi-player, but it's hard (even on easy!) but if your up for a challenge, than a must buy and a great multiplayer makes it even better!

Sonic Adventure 2-Dreamcast
Although a few people would disagree, alot would definately say that this is better than the first Sonic Adventure. This is much faster, no Adventure Fields, tricks, extra points for style, excellent gameplay, bigger levels, better characters AND grinding with your shoes!? Well yes, because Sonic Team were clever enough to get the rights off of SoapShoes©. This is a must buy and no mistake. If you own a Dreamcast and not this, then you're missing out on SO much! A MUST BUY!

Sonic Advance -Game Boy Advance
When everybody heard Sonic would be appearing on the Nintendo consoles, some thought 'will Sonic be able to beat Mario on his own consoles?'. The answer so far is Yes. As Mario seems to be churning out nothing, other than Mario Kart, but re-releases of the original NES Mario's. Sonic Advnace is mint, it is an entirely new game, with great graphics, a brilliantly fun multi-player and a kick-arse sound-track. Sonic Advance is THE game to own on yer GBA and if you miss it, you miss out as the connection it has with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on GameCube is amazing!

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle- GameCube
Sonic's still going strong it seems. SA2Battle is basically SA2, but unlike other companies, SEGA added in totally cool new features such as more chao extras (Chao Karate is funny) and new sounds and intelligence and the multiplayer's been totally revamped. A smothering new array of levels and character changes. You can play as any of the traditional four characters from SA2 but now they all have different attributes (Amy is slow but does alot of attacks, Metal Sonic can make himself invincible to most attacks and is the fastest but has no special attacks) along with more karts to discover and slightly smoother graphics to top the cake. Wonderfully ported, unlike most others.
