Gackt My voice that's crying out can no longer reach anyone... Members Vocal: Gackt Gackt Job Guitar/Violin: You Guitar: Masa Guitar: ChaCha Bass/Cello: Ren Even if you're new to the jrock scene, you have probably heard of Gackt. Seen his picture... everywhere! Seriously, you have to be completely oblivious not to be at least a little familiar with this guy. Gackt is, if you didn't know, the ex-vocalist for the now retired band Malice Mizer. Malice Mizer was famous for their baroque goth style music, which was heavy on instruments like harpsichord. While Gackt has retained a little of that feel, he's definitely moved in a new direction. His music is borderline rock/pop, and some of his songs are just insanely happy. I think his strongest songs are either ballads or the more "visual kei" sounding rock ones which feature lots of violin and piano. A lot of people complain that his music is too pop and that it all sounds the same. That is true to a degree. However, Gackt is also capable of truly unique and gorgeous songs that leave the listener breathless. Gackt writes all his own songs, which puts him a step above many other pop idols, both Japanese and American. His lyrics range from sweet and loving to depressing to downright dark and creepy. In this way, he is wonderfully versatile. However, he has an obsession with the verb "dakishimeru" (to hold/embrace). I swear, if I had a nickel for everytime I heard him sing "dakishimete" I could pay off all my school loans and move to Bali. Gackt's visual look has ranged from gothic to very media friendly in recent days. That being said, he is very attractive and expresses emotion very well when he sings. If nothing else, Gackt is the consumate performer.
