 "Shangri-La was a world where humans and demons lived together in peace - until the demons suddenly went berserk and started attacking people. It was all part of an evil plan to revive Gyumaoh, a super demon who had been sealed in a tomb for 500 years. In order to prevent this forbidden synthesis of black magic and chemistry the heavenly emissary Genjo Sanzo was sent on a journey to the far west with three companions: Son Goku, Sha Gojyo, and Cho Hakkai." Saiyuki is a 50 episode Anime that follows a monk; Genjo Sanzo, and his companions; Cho Hakkai, Sha Gojyo, and Son Goku in their journey to the West. They are heading to India to stop the resurrection of the demon God Gyumaoh. Along the way they encounter demons and assassins sent by Prince Kougaiji, the son of Gyumaoh. Saiyuki is based loosely on an ancient Chinese Legend called "Journey to the West." Their are four series; Saiyuki Gaiden, Gensoumaden Saiyuki, Saiyuki: RELOAD, and Saiyuki: RELOAD GUNLOCK. A movie: Saiyuki Requiem. And a OVA: Saiyuki Kibou No Zaika. ADV only has Gensoumaden Saiyuki as of right now. Saiyuki Gaiden itself is only in Manga form. However, it's animated into the second season of Saiyuki. Saiyuki: RELOAD and Saiyuki: RELOAD GUNLOCK are still in Japan. |
