Sha Gojyo is a perverted water sprite that loves to smoke, drink, gamble, and most of all women. But just like Sanzo, Goku, and Hakkai; Gojyo has unhealed wounds from his past. The two parallel scars on his left cheek are from when his step-mother tried to kill him. Gojyo is a half-breed, from the cursed union of human and demon. His real mother was human, that's all that's known about her. His father was a water sprite. It's not said what happened to his father. He also has a half-brother. His name is Jien, also known as Dokugakuji. Gojyo really had it rough. He didn't have anyone that would love him, except for his brother. Jien was the one that killed their mother to protect Gojyo. Late one night, three years before the story of Gensoumaden Saiyuki begins, Gojyo was walking home one night from the local tavern. It was pouring rain, when he came across someone lying facedown in the mud. Gojyo never thought about why this man was serisouly injured or anything. He took the near-death man in and nursed him back to health. About a month later, a monk was sent by the Sanbutsushin to find the man that killed 1,000 demons. This monk and his companion found Gojyo and the wanted criminal. It turns out that the man and criminal that the half-breed took in's name was Cho Gonou. Since he is a half-breed, he doesn't need a power limiter like Goku and Hakkai. Gojyo is a strong fighter. He loves to pick fights with Goku. He gets hit and threatened by Sanzo. And is best friends with Hakkai. He's weapon is the Jakujou, which is a creasent-shaped blade on a chain that's swung from a staff. |
