According to reliable anime news site, Anime News Service,
Bandai Entertainment's Jerry Chu has confirmed that Mobile
Fighter G Gundam is coming to the US.
Casting is currently taking place in Vancouver, BC for the
English Dub adaptation. G Gundam will be the next
Gundam TV series to arrive in America, possibly on TV as well.
More details should be forthcoming next month.
It is currently unknown as to whether the DVD release of G
Gundam will be bilingual, since the series has not yet been
released on Japanese DVD.
Char's Counterattack
Production underway...
Sunrise is also over-seeing the production of
Char's Counterattack as well for US/English release in addition
to Mobile Fighter G-Gundam which is scheduled for Video release
and hopefully broadcast as well.
Third Volume of Mobile
Suit Gundam Manga Coming to US
Great news! According to Anime News
Network, the third volume of Katzuhisa Kondo's ongoing Mobile
Suit Gundam 0079 Manga will be released in February.
No word yet on whether it will be first printed
in comic format and then as a pocket manga, but either way, this
is terrific news, as its been at least a year since we saw an
american release of Kondo's great manga conversion.
The first two volumes are available as either 2
pocket manga or 17 comic book issues. They are a mix of
the TV series and movies, along with some new parts completely
original by Kondo. Also included are articles by Gundam
Project's Mark Simmons, and interviews with the writer/artist.

All Anime, All Action, All Day
The Cartoon Network Prepares to expand with
new channels for special Interests.
October 12, 1999
We don't know about you, but this is one of the
biggest pieces of news to come across our desk in quite some
time. Straight out of the Anime Weekend Atlanta convention
comes the news the Cartoon Network is looking into developing and
all anime/action channel in the near future. While plans are
still tentative, we could be looking at one of the most
earth-shaking announcements for animation and anime fans.
The reasoning behind this came about when Cartoon
Network realized that the Toonami programming block--Dragon Ball
Z, Ronin Warriors, Thunder Cats, Voltron, and Robotech -- was the
most popular block of programming on the network. And since
there was so much stuff out there, it only made since to consider
spinning the whole thing off.
How likely is it? While we wouldn't bet the
farm on it, get ready to pester your cable/digital dish service
providers for it. The Cartoon Network is already in the
progress of spinning off two channels -- one for the "baby
boomers" generation, the future repository of the old Looney
Tunes, Popeye, and Woody Woodpecker cartoons, and one for Hanna Barbara
cartoons, like Scooby Doo, the Jestsons, Flintstones and
others. Ideally, the core Cartoon Network will be left for
original programming contracted by the Cartoon Network. That
leaves a heck of a lot of licenses left over for an all-Toonami
Channel -- Robotech, Voltron, Thunder Cats, Dragon Ball, Dragon
Ball Z, Zoids, Gundam, Tenchi, Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon, Silver
Hawks, GI Joe, Transformers -- the list goes on and on.
Even if the new channel never spins off, watch the
Cartoon Network to expand its anime action content in 2000 and
beyond. Finally, Sony just announced they're shopping
Rurouni Kenshin, a new samurai series, around for US
broadcast. The Cartoon Network's looking for more
anime. We smell a deal here.
21st century is looking better and better...
So lets say you're in charge of this new Toonami
network. Pick 20 anime series to start the network
out. Which ones would you choose. E-mail us at CyphereZ@aol.com

Dragon Ball, Dragon
Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Movies
The Cartoon Network is getting
more of one of the best animes in America out there.
July 26, 2001
Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon
Ball GT are in the process of being dubbed fully for America.
There are some leeway on how they are cutting it. A lot of the
blood will still be there and some dialog will be changed but other
than that its coming our way. They should be airing the new 43
episodes they have done very soon. But the others are on the
way right afterwards. They say that they had the first 4
episodes of Dragon Ball GT done and the movies are being done every
2 months. So keep a look out for them cause they are over the horizon. Funimation Don't
get Mad June 1, 2001 Don't
get mad at Funimation for crappie DBZ cutting cause they are finally
doing it the right way. They only take a little of the blood
and I think that's it. So be happy or they could easily take
it off the air so don't worry be happy.
Adult Show's, Uncut Anime, Sunday Nights
The Cartoon Network has expanded for the
adult fans special interests.
July 26, 2001
I just got word from this years Comic Con
convention in San Diego that they are going to air an Adult block
for the Cartoon Network. It is only for the 18 years and
older viewers. So they will have a lot of warnings.
Its is said to air Sunday September 2, 2001 at 10pm. It will
show it again Thursday September 6, 2001. It will show the
same ones that was shown that Sunday for all those people who
slept through it. This block will be showing -- Home Movies,
The Brak Show, Seal Lab 2021, Harvey Bird Man Attorney at Law,
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and Cowboy Bebop.
All uncut and a lot more cursing, violence and adult
situations. Its going to be great.
There are some rumors to be going around about
Adult Swim planning on showing some more selection of anime.
I can see that. The anime that people are saying that will
be shown are -- Trigun and Evangalion -- I would not bet my
house on it but hey you never know. So stay tuned. |
