Explorational Work IIIThe leaf is from a tree which is sometimes called a Signature Tree or a Signature Leaf Tree here. When the leaf is scratched the scratch opens a bit with a milky line and reveals a light almost white-yellow under the dark green outer skin. It takes several weeks to completely dry the leaf. When dry it is tough and often is an almost golden tea brown with the lines being a bit lighter. Most of the leaves that I work on are at least the size of my hand spread flat with fingers together. Some leaves can be larger - may be 3 or 4 times that size...

It's fun to create on these leaves... This is actually more like the jump spiders I see here. One visited me for days near the water dish in my studio. We would watch each other for a while and then get to work... |
Gecko on a Leaf
The leaves are still in the experimental stage and only occasionally do i get one i like. The gecko is always a welcome visitor in homes here. |
