Older

As I grow older….
I see children having a good time
It brings back wonderful memories to my mind
I see them run, jump and play
No worries or responsibilities going their
way
As I grow older….
I think back to the day when I was young
I thought growing up would be such fun
I remember holding my mother’s hand
And wondering what for the day she had
planned.
She would take my siblings and I to the
movies, take us out to eat
Those are memories that cannot be beat
As I grow older….
I go back in time when I could not sleep a
wink
Now sleeping is practically all I even think
I remember early Saturday mornings
Which are now wasted with me snoring
As I grow older…
I remember babysitters,
Silly secrets, birthday parties, and first
date jitters.
As I grow older…
It seems like my life has just passed me by
I can’t slow it down no matter how hard I
try
Days go by so fast….
I feel like I am not living life as it
should
My life still feels so misunderstood
As I grow older….
I realize time is not on my side
Sometimes it feels like something in me has
died
Now I see my life in a whole new light
I savor the moments, the memories of each
day and night
And for those I will hold on to them very,
very tight

About this Poem
At the moment I am having a hard time with getting older. Lately I have been so nostaglic and I long for the days to be a kid again. People always say that they wish they could be young again...how true that statement is.
