Around the World in a Day
Released April 22, 1985
High Level Review
The mega-success of Purple Rain satisfied Prince's drive for recognition, but he is not an artist who can be comfortable standing in one place. Around the World in a Day is a psychadelic pop album incorporating many different sounds, from gospel to flutes, but little of the rock and roll that drove him to the top in 1984. With his own money and critical success, he built Paisley Park Studios as a sign for the many different directional changes to come.
Lyrics
The love/sex battle is prominent on this album more than previous ones, although many songs have social and psychological messages as well.
