Elgin-O'Hare ExpresswayRoads of the Mid-South & West > Highways of the State of Illinois > Expressways of Chicago > Elgin-O'Hare Expressway

The Elgin-O'Hare Expressway is a, aprox., 6 miles expressway in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. It starts at IL St Rt 53 and Throndale in Itasca and head west to U.S. Rt. 20 near Hanover Park. This expressway is unique because it doesn't goto or through Elgin or O'Hare International Airport.

The Du Page County Board has approved a plan for agrements to design a western access road into O'Hare International Airport. This effort would give the airport a second entrance. It would most likely be a extension of the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway.*

Chicago may Richard Daley agreed to protect a 300-foot corridor of land at O'Hare Airport. This could be used to extend the EOE to the airport. Runway 14-32L would have to be replaced before the highway could be built. The agreement was signed by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Du Page County, and the City of Chicago. This agreement gives the state a option on building a bypass road to link Interstate 294 and Interstate 90.**
