Tainui Marae Reservation
"Tainui" Marae or "Te Pou o Tainui" Marae can be found at Convent Road, Otaki. The marae whenua is held under two land titles in the maori land court. They are Pukekaraka 4B and Pukekaraka 4A3
Pukekaraka 4BComprises 3 acres 38 perches. Investigation of title to Pukekaraka 4B was conducted in 1881. At the time the court awarded Pukekaraka 4B to 32 individual owners. At a latter date Pukekaraka 4B was made into a marae reservation and Trustees appointed.
Pukekaraka 4A3 Comprises 1 acre 1 rood 23.8 perches. Investigation of title to Pukekaraka 4A3 was conducted in 1905. At the time the court awarded Pukekaraka 4A3 to 1 individual owner. At a latter date Pukekaraka 4A3 was included with Pukekaraka 4B in the marae reservation and the same Trustees as for Pukekaraka 4B were appointed.
