After that, Cheryl did some shopping, and Michelle, Rachel and I decided to go to the MGM Grand. I didn't have tickets for that night's show, and I wanted to see if there were any available. I couldn't stand not being able to see the show that night, after seeing how great all the others were! I was hoping and hoping I would be able to go. We walked down the strip to the MGM, taking pictures as we went. We called LKK and had her meet us in MGM, and then went to the ticket desk next to the Hollywood Theater. I asked the guy if there were any tickets left, and will you believe that there was ONE ticket left? I couldn't believe it!! I immediately bought it. I was so happy. We decided to walk around the casino, and lo and behold, we saw Colin playing video poker, the same place we had seen him the other night. The man loves his video poker!! Keep in mind, also, that this was during the Superbowl, and we knew that Drew was having a Superbowl party...yet Colin was still downstairs, gambling! It made me laugh. We decided to walk around a bit before going over to him. We wandered the casino, then went back to Colin, and said hi to him. As we walked up, he was winning...AGAIN! Millions of coins (well, maybe I'm exaggerating) were falling out of the machine as we stood there. We said hi, and asked how much he won this time. He said $300 again, in a very nonchalant voice. I said, "I love how he says it like it's nothing!" He kind of smirked and laughed.
Michelle introduced him to Rachel, who hadn't met him before. She got a pic with him. He asked if we were going to the shows that night, and I told him my whole story about how I was fortunate enough to get the very last ticket. I'm sure he was very very interested and excited to hear it. :) I don't know what it is about being around the guys that makes me just ramble on about things nobody cares about. :) We said that we heard that the show was going to be crazy, since it was the last one. He said yes, that everyone was probably going to work out their frustration from the night before, from having to censor themselves for the PPV. Then LKK asked if he could answer a question for her, and he said yes. She asked if he was supposed to be in Jeopardy the previous night (those who have seen it may understand), because from the looks on everyone's faces, it seemed like he had just jumped in there. He said he was supposed to be in it, but not all of them knew that it was going to be a five-player game. He said Kathy had had a light show, so they added her to Jeopardy. Then Michelle asked him what was on the paper that Julie and Greg wouldn't read, and he said that he didn't know--he didn't see it. He said he suspected it wasn't TOO bad, but that it just wasn't PG-13. He said that it was probably worse in our minds than it actually was on the paper. We thanked him for his time, said goodbye, and let him play his game in peace.
We left the MGM and Rachel went back to her room, and Michelle and I went to LKK's room. We watched some more videos, including the compilation where Tony splits his pants. Then Michelle left, and LKK and I watched the Colin interview from Whosercon '99...which was absolutely wonderful. He's so funny in that interview, and I learned a lot about him and the show. It was great to see it. I went back to my room to get ready for the show. I met LKK, Michelle, and others at the MGM after I got my seat for the show, which was WAY up in back! Quite a shock, after I had been so close for all of the others! But hey, all I cared about was the fact that I was there! I could still see very well, so it was all good. The show that night was really great. Everyone was very loose, having a great time. You could just see that all the pressures of worrying about the PPV special were gone, and they just had a wonderful show. There was a lot of laughing, swearing...general merriment. :) As Colin had said before, they definitely got out their frustrations...and so did he!! I don't know why, but I just get such a satisfaction from hearing Colin swear...it just makes me laugh more than anything. :) After the show, I went back down to the other Whosers who were at the show. We all went outside and hung out, waiting for the guys once again. Greg came out and walked past everyone...looking incredibly tired once again. I didn't even want to bother him, because he looked so horrible. Hopefully he's gotten some sleep! Brad and Shawna walked out, too, but I don't know if they got stopped or not. Why don't I know? Because right after that, Ryan came out! Since it was the last night, I was determined to get a pic alone with him, and to get him to sign my photo w/ him and Dawn from Friday night. Ryan was immediately mobbed by people. I went over by him, and asked for a pic. Phil wanted one as well, so we got one with all 3 of us, to save Ryan some time. I saw LKK and a few others talking to Chip, who had just come out, so I walked over there. LKK mentioned to Chip that she had gone to William and Mary just like he did. They compared school rings and graduating years. He was so cute and funny about it.
I still wanted to get a picture alone with Colin. I saw him standing a bit away, so I walked up to him. He saw me, and said, "What do YOU want?" in an annoyed voice, with an amused look on his face. Ah, I could see that in only 4 short days I had already endeared myself to his heart. ;) I said, "I know, how sick of me are you?" I asked for a pic w/ me and him, and he made fun of me, saying, "So how many is this now?" I laughed and said that I had gotten others, but I wanted one with just him. He said, "Okay, sure," and I said, "You understand." He smiled and said yeah, and I finally got my pic alone with Colin! :) I thanked him for being so great this weekend, for putting up with me and all of us, and said that I had a great time. He said that he was glad, and it was great to see me. I told him that I'd be in LA in March, so "don't worry, you'll be seeing me soon!" :) "Great," he said, deadpan. I just adore him. I thanked him again and said goodbye.
I walked back over near the slots, and saw that Ryan was still over there. I still hadn't had him sign my pic from Friday night, so I figured I might as well try, since it was the last night. I went and stood by him as he talked to someone else. He asked if anyone had something to write with, so I practically dove headfirst into my bag to get my Sharpie out to give to him. I had that thing in Ryan's hand in about 0.3 seconds, tops. :) He took it, said thanks, and looked at it and said, "Ooh, a Sharpie." Yes, I'm very impressive. :) When he was done, he went to give me back my marker, and I asked him to sign my photo. He looked at it and said, "Oh, is this from last night? And I said, "Umm, no...it's from...Friday night, I think". How intelligent I am when I'm around the man. Anyway, he signed it and gave me back the marker. I said, "Well, since I was so nice and gave you my marker, can I get a pic with you?" I apparently turn into a 10 year old in front of Ryan. My ability to act intelligently just leaves me. :) He said of course, so I finally got my pic alone with Ryan!! Yay! :) I thanked him. LKK, who was standing next to us, said, "I like your tie" to Ryan, and he said, "Thank you! Wait, why am I saying thank you? It's not mine, it's from wardrobe!" LKK said, "Well, tell wardrobe I like their tie!" We said goodbye, and let him leave. :)
I walked over to where a few people were talking to Chip. I stood by him while he took some pics with other people. Then Nancy came over, and asked me to get a pic with her and Chip. Then Phil came and got a pic with Chip too. LKK came back over and got a pic also, and she and him talked all about the dorms they stayed in at college and all that. She asked if he did any stage work at school, and he said that he was in a band. He said he even stayed at school after he graduated to play for one more year! He said he absolutely loved it, it was so much fun. Finally, I was able to talk to him. I said to him, "I'm not going to bug you for a picture or autograph." "It's not bugging me," he said. I said that I had gotten them from him already, and explained that my voice (actually, my throat) was feeling a bit better, and that I had talked to him the night before. All of a sudden, he said, "Oh yeah! I remember you! You're man-voice!" How funny! I laughed, and said, "Great, that's how he remembers me!" He asked, "What's your name again?" and I told him Melanie. He said, "Oh yeah!". I said that I just wanted to come up and thank him for being so great during the weekend, putting up with us and being so nice. I said that he was wonderful in the shows, and that I had such a great time. He asked where I traveled from, and I told him New Jersey. Now, I THINK this is what happened, but I can't completely remember. Someone who was there, please tell me if I'm right, or if I'm forgetting something. I remember he said, "Alright!" and slapped my hand. The part I don't remember is if he did it after I told him I came from NJ, or was it after something else that I said? Or something that he said? Ahhh, I can't remember! Someone help me out! :) We all said goodbye, and then he left.
He was the last of the cast members to leave, so it was just our group left. We took a huge group picture under the Hollywood Theater sign with Drew's picture on it. After that, we said our goodbyes to Rachel, who was leaving very early the next morning. How sad! Then Cheryl, Michelle, LKK, Leigh, Kelly, Louise, Melanie, and I decided to get something to eat. Nancy and Phil went back to the hotel. We all walked around for a while, looking for a place that was open. We decided on the Studio Cafe, then noticed a sushi bar next door. Cheryl, Michelle, LKK, and I decided to eat there instead. We all got sushi and LKK got this weird Japanese fruit-dessert thing that looked like peach pits. It was so strange, I can't even describe it. Tasted similar to peaches, but a little wierd. I liked them, but Cheryl spit hers out. :)
After we were done eating, we decided to comb the casino and see who was around. We saw Drew at a table playing Pai-Gow poker, at the same table as Mini Me's friend that Michelle and I had met the other night. We looked around for Ray Ray, but couldn't see him anywhere. Then we noticed Colin and Ryan at a nearby table, also playing Pai-Gow Poker. As we looked at them, we noticed that Kathy Kinney and Sean Masterson were also at their table. (They were all at the high stakes tables, by the way...$100 minimum). We walked by the Betty Boop lounge to see if anyone else was around, but nobody else was. Cheryl had won money on the slots, which we cashed in, then we walked past Colin and Ryan's table one more time. With one LONG last look at them for the trip, we left for the Tropicana, and LKK's room.
We found Nancy, Dharma and Phil in there watching videos (LKK had given them an extra key), but Nancy had to leave and go to bed. The rest of us watched the Best of WL episode...and fulfilled Cheryl's dream of watching the ending credits together in Vegas. :) She gave us her gifts that she had brought us, which included Spuddy Buddies, chocolate-covered potato chips, potato fudge, and other candies that were made in Boise. We took some last few pics, and said goodbye. We were all leaving the next morning, so we had our hugs.
Since Monday was so short, I'm just adding it onto Sunday here. Cheryl woke me up by screaming in my face at 6:45 am, before she left for the airport. That was wonderful. We said goodbye (*sniff*), and I set the alarm and went back to sleep. I woke up a bit later, got dressed, and heard from Nancy. Phil was driving her, Michelle and me to the airport together, so I met them all at the Tropicana, after checking out of my room. We drove to the airport, and Phil dropped us off. We said our thank-yous and goodbyes to him. Inside, the 3 of us had breakfast together, then we too had to say goodbye. Hugs and love were exchanged, and we went our separate ways. My flight home, although late, was pretty uneventful. I slept a lot, and was depressed about leaving Vegas. I looked at my pics one more time, wrote a little about the weekend (which you are reading right now), and tried to be cheerful about going home. :)
This was such an amazing trip. I can't explain how wonderful a time I had. I got to meet a whole bunch of people that I had been longing to meet for so long. We got to see our favorite performers do hilarious live shows, and even got to meet them afterward. It was my first time in Vegas, and it's such a magical place. SO much to do, and SOOO much fun. I wouldn't have traded this trip for anything in the world. I'm so glad that I got to meet all of you, and I love you all. It's going to take a while for me to get over this trip, and I miss you all so much already! Thanks for everything that each one of you has done to make this trip so great. And, one last time...VIVA LAS VEGAS!!
