The 67 Chevy II was a 2 year restoration project that began with just a rolling chassis.
I started the project by completely stripping the body, doors, fenders, etc. of their 5 coats of paint. It took about 2 weeks of evening work to finish this step. Never again.
Then the fun stuff began, pro-streeting the back half. The first night I removed the rearend & gas tank, and began to cut out the trunk and rear seat flooring. Then, I rolled a set of Mickey Thompson 33x21.50 tires on Centerline Convo Pros under the car to measure for the correct length to have the Dana 60 rear axle shortend too.
Once the rear ladder bar suspension and cross-member arrived from Art Morrison, the ladder bar mounts were welded to the Dana 60 housing and bars attached. Next, the cross-member was correctly located and welded between the rocker panels.
Giving the car its structural support back with the cross-member allowed for the rest of the floor to be cut out up to the firewall.
Now, the process of fabricating the rear subframe and attaching the suspension components could be completed.
