Chevy II Nova Page 2
Finally, the car was back on the ground again and its new stance was quite impressive. The car looked kind of complete again, since in the mean time I had primered the frontend sheet metal and temporarily hung them. The time had come for the trunk tin work, fuel cell mounting, and new floor pans installations.
But not for long, a Chassis Engineering Mustang II front suspension with rack-n-pinion was the next project. The front end of the Chevy II was unbolted and rolled away to the scrap pile, while the new framerails with suspension were laid into place for measurements.
The upper support bars were welded in place for added strength. Also, the correct engine position was located and the motor plate mounts were installed. How about that polished 8:71 BDS super-charger? The front end sheet metal was hung to begin the fabrication of the radiator/fender support and mounts for the hood hinges.
Here you can see the how the radiator support was made and how the custom Griffen aluminium radiator with fans fit in to the picture. In the meantime, the 386cu small block chevy was being assembled with all the good stuff. (Callies crank, rods, & spayed billet main caps, JE Ultralite pistons, 8:71 BDS Comp Blower, pair of 1050 Holley Dominators, World Products heads, and Mr. Big Shot Nitrious system, etc.)
Here the car just came back from the metal shop where new quarter panels were hung (wheel openings stretched 5 inches for the bigger tires) and a few exterior items shaved off. Now, the process of block sanding started by spraying a light mist of blue paint on top the primer inorder to find the high and low spots.
