January 9th -Axl's court date set for this morning in Phoenix postponed to February 5.-
Axl remained in Los Angeles this morning and had made himself available to the court via the telephone.

Jan 9th - Geffen Records sources say that Axl is back in the studio after a Christmas break -
Working on a new Guns N' Roses album, and that tape is now rolling with producer Sean Beavan at the helm and engineer Critter at the controls.

Feb18th -Axl pleaded guilty -
To the misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace (at Skyharbour Airport) in Phoenix Municipal Court. Resulting in a $500 fine and one day in jail -- which he already served. Sources say Axl was apparently reluctant to take the time away from recording the new Guns N' Roses album in Los Angeles to fight the charge in Phoenix and took the line of least resistance.

August 4th - Robin Fink leaves GN'R to tour with NIN.-
A spokesperson for Reznor's label, Nothing Records, confirmed that Robin will again be touring with Nine Inch Nails. Insiders are saying that Robin had initially intended to tour with GN'R and had signed a two-year contract. His two years are now up, and with no album or tour in sight, sources say Robin opted to return to NIN to tour.

September 7th -It is confirmed that GN'R will have a new song out called "Oh My God" -
For the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie End Of Day's. It appears in both in the film and on the soundtrack CD. According to the film's music supervisor, G. Marq Roswell, the song was written specifically for the movie by Axl after he saw it at an advance screening.

September 9th -'Oh My God,' appeared in commercial during MTV Video Music Awards.-
The 15-second snippet is punctuated by horns and a thumping bass drum. A wash of distorted guitars played while another guitar sliced through the sound with wah-wah pedal effects.

September 22nd -Axl gives press release about Oh My God's inspirations/origins -
"The chorus: OH MY GOD etc. deals with the societal repression of deep and often agonizing emotions - some of which may be willingly accepted for one reason or another - the appropriate expression of which (one that promotes a healing, release and a positive resolve) is often discouraged and many times denied. Emotionally the song contemplates several abstract perspectives drawing from personal expression as well as from the film (End Of Days) and its metaphors. The appropriate expression and vehicle for such emotions and concepts is not something taken for granted." (snipp)

November 8th- Axl gives Kurt Loader an in dept telephone interview about new GN'R album -
"It's a lot of different sounds," Rose said of the album. "There's some really heavy songs, there's some really aggressive songs, but they're all in different styles and different sounds. It is truly a melting pot." (snippet)

November 9th- Dave Navarro talks of Studio visit with GN'R -
"There's no story," Navarro recently told MTV News .They just called me up, and I went down to the studio. I spent about an hour and a half there. I played a guitar solo, and that's it."

November 9th-Goldstein verifies that new album will be called Chinese Democracy.-
He adds that the title has been a done deal for at least six weeks.

November - Axl reveals some new song titles to Rolling Stone -.
In an interview given to David Wild at the San Fernando Valley recording studio in late November (for an article which appeared in Feb 2000 issue of RS). Axl reveals that other songs we could find on "Chinese Democracy" when it hits stores include "Catcher in the Rye," "I.R.S.," "The Blues" and "TWAT," an acronym for "there was a time."

Dec - Brian May is confirmed to have spent time recording with GN'R-
A spokes person confirmed to MTV "Brian Spent a week with the band.They recorded several songs worth of material, but we have no idea what's going to end up on the end product."

Dec - Buckethead gets Christmas gift from Axl-
Of "leatherface doll". "There was this Leatherface doll that Spencers-type stores put out, it's pretty large and puffy, it was on the top of the list. Didn't receive it from the family. Got invited to Axl's on Christmas night; never met him before. Sad about not getting the doll but it is ok, but still sad. Get to Axl's, he presents this box wrapped up. The Michael Myers version has been out for a while, knew it was the same box. Figured it was Michael Myers and opened it up. There was Leatherface. In the brain joined that second.
