TRS History

Long story short...A couple of years ago (late-2oo1) Cole, Aaron Heim and I wanted to start a band. Nothing serious, just kind of a side project from the band we were currently in, Tortured Elements. We had some experience with Tyler beating it for us at the 2oo1 Talent Show , so we called him up and got together one day in Cole's wasp-infested garage to jam a little. Our objective -- Think of a song to play for the Mr. Merry X-mas pageant at SHS. That was all, we didn't really anticipate anything long term. Well, weeks turned to months and we got a bit more serious about TheRiteSide and wrote some nice grungy songs that we later realized weren't any good. We had our little debut at SHS. We played Sleep Now in the Fire and, in my opinion, we did Tom and the gang justice. Everybody I talked to seemed to be impressed with us, which was kind of cool, since we didn't really know if we were any good or not. Soon, we were playing a real live show at The Legion for The Ides of March. We had a sweet little hour-and-fifteen-minute set that ranged from "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to "Rapper's Delight" to "For Whom the Bell Tolls". We were a hit. It was then that we knew for sure we had a good thing going. We went underground for awhile, fine-tuning things and learning new covers and writing new songs and such, played a few shows... About a year later, after the second annual Ides of March show, Aaron quit the band due to irreconcilable differences. We remained a three peice for awhile, auditioned one guy, butchered "All my Life" at the 2oo3 Talent Show... Then I happened across a fellow named Justin who worked alongside me at Big V. He said he played guitar and I said "cool", I said I was in this band called TheRiteSide and we needed a guitar player and he was a guitar player...it was as if it was written in the stars. We brought him to a few practices and liked his style. He couldn't slap the WAH around like a stepchild the way Aaron could, but he learns quicker and has a better presence overall. So, that's the short version of how TheRiteSide as it stands today came about. The end.
