She was adopted as a baby by Man-At-Arms. Teela has no knowledge of her true parentage, although one day she will take over as Sorceress of Grayskull. HISTORY: Teela (20 years old - approx.) is the Captain of the Eternian Royal Guard, as well as Prince Adam's personal body guard, and also a part time Master of the Universe!Teela's father was a brave war hero who sacrificed himself so that Eternia could continue to live in peace. He was good friends with Man-at-Arms who he had fought many battles with. Duncan even saved him from the evil clutches of Mer Man. After he died his wife, Teelina, The Sorceress of Grayskull, discovered she was pregnant and gave birth to her daughter who she named Teela. The biggest threat at those times was from Mer Man and in order to stop him capturing Teela she secretly gave him to Duncan. Duncan was summoned by Zoar at the exact moment Adam and Adora were born and he was lead to a small nest. Teela's identity was kept secret as no-one was allowed to know the secret of her destiny - to become the next Sorceress of Grayskull, not even Teela herself. This makes Teela's life very hard as Duncan has told her about being adopted and that her real father died but she is plagued by the fact she cannot contact her mother, as is Duncan and Teelina.
The fiery red head received formal training at the Academy but Duncan trained her into the fighting-fit 5'10" warrior we all know and love. She is a gifted rider of her golden horse. Skilled at the art of physical combat and survival skills and superior knowledge of weaponry i.e. sword fighting, lasers. She also, with the power of her Snake Sceptre - named Kobra, an energy weapon and is the means of her power over animals. On her 18th birthday (which she shares with Adam) she was officially named Captain of the Royal Guard by King Randor in honour to her strength and prowess with weapons.
The Sorceress, Man-At-Arms, He-man, and Battlecat are the only ones who know this secret. Teela will not know who her true mother is until the day comes when she will have to take her mother's place as mystic guardian of Castle Grayskull. As Skeletor would stop at nothing to capture Teela, and use her as a way into Grayskull.
In her mother's own words Teela is "brave, bold and resourceful". She is a perfectionist and expects others (Adam) to live up to her standards. She is not above disobeying her father when she feels he is telling her what to do. She is also as hard on herself as she is on others. She often puts on a brave front in the presence of others but there is a kind of loneliness about her because there are pieces of her life missing. She once described her ideal man as someone with Adam's wit and He-man's courage, but where could she find someone like that?!
