SESSION 5

Denal drew back his arm and threw his alchemist fire onto the floor, ignighting the other two, effectively setting up a small flame wall.  As the party slowly backed up into the corridor, Talgor heard Torch boy and went to investigate.  He saw the two adventurers too.  The elf pretty much ignored the new comers, more interested in the current threat.  As the two adventurers did not attack, he felt they were harmless.

Talgor parleyed with the new people as quick as he could, outlining that if they came looking for orcs, there are plenty in the next room.  The party shifted back into the junction, readying their bows.  As Anson cautiously slid back, an orc, brave enough to get over the fire came around the wall.  Anson quickly charged and killed the orc with a swift stroke.  He then moved back again.

They waited and no attack came.  No other orcs came out into the corridor.  Anson introduced himself to the new people.  Arik did the same.  Denal just looked at the new people and said “ Okay.. here’s the plan…”

The cleric summoned his favorite Celestial Badger again and had the badger move forward.  The badger saw nothing.  The elf cautiously went up to the edge of the corner and also saw nothing.  The badger went to the room and then saw the orcs lined up waiting for them!   The elf did a low crawl to the corner of the corridor to peek into the room.  He slid back and rejoined the others.

Coming up with a plan, Anson and Garen went to the room with the underground river and took the two barrels and emptied them.  They brought the barrels back and used them for cover.  Arik and Denal took point rolling the barrels forward, inch by inch until they could see the orcs.

Denal mover forward and slid his barrel into the room, arrows clunked into it.  Arik also moved his barrel into the room, arrows clunked against that one too.  Arik popped his head up to fire and missed, but not before several arrows cut through his hair and cheek.  He got back down and cursed.  “Wonderful plan you got here Denal.”

The cleric piped up, "Arik, do you need healing?"

Arik just waved the cleric off saying "No."

Arik peeked up again and more arrows flew at him, a couple cutting his ear, and slicing his forehead.  Now he was getting pissed.  Anson, tired of this, took a leap and dove over Arik and rolled to one of the barrels that were in the room.  He just got behind the barrel when arrows clunked into the barrel.  The monk dove in and got behind a barrel as well.

Arik turned to the cleric and said “"Now I could use you."”

With the party effectively pinned down, the wolf, Blizzit, charged into the room and leapt for the nearest orc, only to growl in its face.  The orc just growled back.  The Druid/Barbarian, Garen, leapt into the room and also hid behind a barrel.  Arik, having enough of this bull, got up and kicked his barrel away and fired into an orc, only to have the shot glance away.

The orcs charged.  Two orcs charged in and attacked Anson.  The monk stared at one orc coming right at him, coming to the other side of the barrel; while another orc came running up and leaping the barrel, only to get caught in the mid section with a fist.  The orc landed rough and still struck home on the monk.  The rest of the orcs ganged up on the wolf and Anson.  Garen brought out his berserk rage and leapt into the fray, running towards his companion, Blizzit.  He came up and saw the orc and Blizzit growling at each other.  He also growled at the orc.  An orc tried to come up from behind and Garen just back handed him with his sword and killed him.  Talgor stepped up and dropped his war hammer on top of an orc's head, effectivly spquashing it flat.

Denal tried to get around the back of the orc fighting Arik and backstab, with no avail,   Arik dropped his crossbow and pulled out his scimitar and with one swipe took the orcs head off at the shoulder.  The monk used his hands to break the neck of the first orc, then stepping over and taking down the next one.  Anson had also taken down his orcs, save one.

Denal ran towards the fight and said:  "Don't kill it!"”

He ran over and tried to 'sap' the thing.  Blizzit had enough of this growling game and leapt for the throat of the orc, killing it.

Talgor moved up to the remaining orc and swiped at the orc's weapon.  "Do you surrender?"” he asked as he broke the orc's weapon with such a force that it flew from his hand.  He surrendered.  They tied up the orc and Denal come over and asked Talgor to ask the orc how many are there.  The orc spat in Talgor's face.  Denal hit the orc and sapped the orc into unconsciousness.

Garen went up to Denal and asked his what kind of journey they were on.  Denal just looked at the human and turned away.  He strode over to a corner and brought the hood down over his face more and rested.  Anson told Garen that:  "It's and elf, and not to worry.  They're like that."  While they waited for the orc to regain consciousness, the rested and regained spells.

Being that Denal was not good at torture, he asked the monk if he could perform the procedure.  All the information they got out of the orc was that his leader was to the north and that the food supplies are to the north, and that there are a lot of orcs here.

They gagged the orc and dropped him upside down into a barrel and left him there.  They proceeded along the corridors, until they found a room.  Denal mentioned that it’s not worth searching because all they’d find was “dirty orc socks”.  Garen tried anyway.  He wandered in and checked the chests, finding a beautiful Emerald gem worth at least 50 gold.

The party started down the corridor to the north when all of a sudden an earthquake hit, taking them all from their feet.  No damage was taken by the quake to the party except that the place shook.  Dust and small pebbles fell from the ceiling, and that was about it.  The corridor was long, a good 250 feet or better or nothing but straight hallway.  They wandered around a couple bends and eventually came upon a small wooden door.

The door was rotted and falling off its hinges.  It looked about dwarf size.  The party went into the room and found various kegs and chests of foodstuff, wine, water, etc..  They also noticed two large steel doors on the north wall.  These doors were heavily chained, with links as big as your fist.  The lock was huge.  Denal tried to pick the lock with no success.  He turned around and saw the druid holding a rather large key.  He stepped up to the lock and tried it.  The key worked, opening the lock.  Everyone gaped at the open lock.  Anson made a smart remark:  “"Are we sure we want to do this?"”

Denal took the chains off the door and slowly crept the door open.  He paused when he saw the large red dragon in the room.  The dragon charged and stopped half way across the room, stopped by a large chain attaching him to the far wall.  The dragon said telepathically “ "FEED ME"”.   Denal quickly shut the door.  “"There's a dragon in there!"

             “"A what?!"” Everyone said.

“"There is a red dragon in that room."”  Denal stated again.  The red dragon went back to his bed and curled back up watching the door.  He said again in Denal’s mind:  “FEED ME.”

Denal started to formulate a plan or attack.  Deciding that it was best not to do such a foolhardy thing, he peeked in again.  “FEED ME  NOW!”  He closed the door again.  He came up with a better plan.

Garen volunteered to open the door, Anson volunteered to roll a keg of foodstuff into the dragon.  Garen opened the door fully, and Anson started rolling the barrel.  He heard in his mind “ "FEED ME."”  He stopped rolling the barrel and sat down on it.

“"Now wait a minute, what's in it for me?"”  he asked.

“"I will let you live"” the dragon said.  “"Now feed me."”

“"Now hold on here, who captured you?"”  Anson asked.

“"Orcs."” The dragon stated.  Anson got up off his keg and tossed in a couple pieces of meat, not even getting close to the dragon.  He moved closer and tossed a chunk at the dragon, which snapped it up in the air.

“"Now, how long have you been here?  Years? Months? Millennia?"” Anson asked.

“"Years."” The dragon said.  Anson asked again “"How many years? 10? 20? 100?"”

“"Few."” The dragon said.  Anson threw the dragon more meat.  He snapped it up greedily.

             “"FREE ME."”  The dragon stated.

“"Now hold on,"” Anson said.  “"How do we know that you won't eat us?"

“"You have my word."”  The dragon said.  “"FREE ME."”

Anson looked back at the party and they did not want to free the dragon.  Even if they could free the dragon, he could not fit through the small door.  They opted to feed the dragon the rest of the meat and thank him for his hospitality.  And for not cooking them. They closed and locked the door.

The party continued on and found a passage that was totally caved in.  They continued down the long passage and found it too was caved in.  But not near as much, only part of the ceiling was dropped, so they could get around it.  They came to an intersection and saw it too had caved in.  Two passages were totally blocked off.  The other was a door.  They went through it and came upon another door.  Denal checked the door and found it unlocked, he peeked in and saw six orcs clearing rubble out from the other side of the room.  A cave in had taken out part of the room.  Denal told the others of what was in there and noted that it was time for a backstab...…
