Hi.. My name is Linda and I live in Pensacola, Florida, with my poodle, Mocha. I have always been interested in weather, moreso after having been through a supertyphoon and a couple of hurricanes. It's nice to have a group of people with a serious interest in hurricanes. My hobbies are golf and tennis.

Back in 1985,a fear was changed to an obsession by a single girl named Gloria. Ever since then I track every hurricane and storm. A thunderstorm will top any day for me. I wanted to be a meteorologist but now I major in writing, so I can write about the weather.

Well i'm originally from Boston, Mass and moved to orlando because my mothers appartment got destroyed by hurricane Gloria. Ever since my mom told me that story I love weather exspecially hurricanes. I been wanting to be a meteorologist since the fourth grade. I am 15 now and still have the desire to track hurricanes and hope to pursue a carrrere in hurrcane forcasting. The most memerable hurricane i rode out was hurricane Erin in 1995. She hit early in the morning and we lost power. I stayed up all that night listening to my batttery powerd radio for info on the storm. Found out that the eye passed just 5 miles south of me. I also heared tree limbs falling making a thump on my roof as they fell. The next morning there was minimal damage to my neighborhood. A few downed trees and some flooding along with a few broken windows to some houses. I went to check out the area five miles south where the eye passed over and there was moderate damage. Four homes where completly destroyed and windows where broken everywhere. So from gloria and erin i have always had a passsion for weather.

I have always been fascinated with the weather, ever since I was a kid in first grade. That's when we expereince Hurricane Dora in 1964, I still have vivid memories of the damge it done. I also out ran a tornado at night, that was chasing me, I'll never forget that one, I'm also into plants and gardening which future keeps me up with the weather. I envy storm chasers, I would love to do that sometime! Always glad to talk to others about the weather...........

Hello, I've been interested in weather 20+ years. It is the offshoot of my amateur astronomy interest. Everytime I would plan on looking at something over the weekend, thursday a few cirrus clouds would float by, halos came friday, rain on saturday. So I accidently learned to read the sky. Then the 1974 supertornado outbreak came & I discovered ham radio & I have been a ham 20 years. Hurricanes, typhoons & tropical cyclones. I find them "facinating", as Mr. Spock would say. They move slowly enough that you get to know each storms quirks & personality. And, they have a beauty when looking down at them & sometimes it is easy to forget that Hurricane Bubba is actually blowing Jamaica to smithereens. Being 275 miles from the coast, when one enters the gulf, it starts getting personal, as I don't like flying without a plane.

I've always been a weather nut! I drive my family crazy with the weather channel. I started tracking after I moved to SC 5 years ago. Since then we've had a few storms and will probably have a bunch more!!!! The scarey and exciting part comes when you have to board up your house and evacuate. Some people don't understand the high you get during this time, then on the other hand your praying like heck that you can come home!! I work in a hospital and usually have to stay behind while my family seeks shelter elsewhere. That is also stressful, but thank goodness I have a fellow nurse who also loves Hurricanes!! We usually keep each other up to date on all conditions as they happen... Looking forward to getting to know you all. Judy
