PsychoGamers takes a first look at 2 New Games still in development. What I've seen so far looks very kick. If nothing else, take a peek at the screens.Akolyte - From ionos Software, this is a 3Dfx action title for PC-CD and Sony PlayStation. These screenshots are taken from an early stage of development, but show the quality of the engine they plan to achieve.Sorcery - This is a 1st person RPG (single & multiplay) by Starbreeze Studios, a Swedish company. I saw a forum post titled An Open Letter to Blizzard by Iolaus. I think this post about sums it up for me, and by the response of forum readers i'm not the only one. This is an excellent post. Please read it and add your own post to the thread. I think it's too late to make a difference with Starcraft but maybe it'll help with the Diablo 2 release practices. ( Mac owners are still waiting for Diablo! ) He makes some good points. What am i talking about?..oh sorry, read on. The post starts out...

Starcraft Update : Contact within Blizzard tells more on the release date story... According to a PR contact at Blizzard, Starcraft is feature complete and in final testing. The game should release to duplication within days. Blizzard and EB WORLD will announce when the product goes gold. EB expects to have retail copies available the week of March 23Blizzard's Response

Mr Plow at SC Sector talked to ScottM about the 7th patch and here's what he found out :
I heard from ScottM that beta patch #7 will probably be released, but the release of the patch isn't "set in stone" yet. I also learned that because the Zerg Queen had lost it's attack, many people were complaining about consistency in the three races. Blizzard also noticed the problem, so the Protoss Templar's attack has also been removed.What's GameSpy 3D?

Reports on the Web that Blizzard Entertainment's Starcraft has entered the manufacturing stage are incorrect, according to Blizzard's Susan Wooley.Wooley says the Starcraft team hopes to go gold with the title this weekend, but she's making no promises.
Wooley also assures gamers a demo will follow the retail release of the title.

Could u also tell me if i would get the game quicker if i ordered direct from Blizz or waited for the stores to get it?"

We expect to have it on the shelves within the next 2 to 4 weeks. We do not take advanced orders for any of our software. Blizzard's Forum response here, basically states StarCraft is not gold yet and they promise to let us know when it does go gold.StarCraft Goes Gold!?!?
Next Generation Online has an article stating that SC has gone gold and is entering the production stage. I couldn't find any other articles about this on the other gaming sites or at Blizzard's announcemnt page. Submitted for your belief, below is the entire article. I'm off to mail Blizz for a response.

Sources at the manufacturing facillity have told Next Generation Online that the game has entered production.
After a series of delays, the game has finally gold master and is in the process of production. Next Generation Online spoke to a source at the facillity who has indicated that Blizzard's plans for a March 11 release should be on track with this new development.
In other StarCraft news, Next Generation Online has learned that there are no current plans for a demo to be released. According to Blizzard, putting together a demo would have only delayed the game's release further and given the prior success of WarCraft 2 such that a demo really isn't necessary to build awareness.

I didn't see time restraints at the EBT page, however Psychogamer News reports that the sign up will remain open through the weekend, and that EBT will reopen sign ups every few months.

Beta News
Mutant over at SC Sector states, "There aren't a lot of testers playing at the moment, mainly due to the fact that the game sucks since patch 6, especially the pathing. There's also a serious lack of games going (unless you're into the ladder thing) as the non-hardcore players get bored... I'm looking forward to the release date just as much as non-testers." Mutant also stated that "according to ScottM, patch #7 is by no means definite, although it is probable." hmmmm, yep that clarified it for me.Kyle, from SC Infoceptor sent Blizz an email and posted the answers he recieved. In reply to his question on 'would there be a 7th patch?' Blizzard answered "We expect that there will be a beta patch 7, but there is no guarantee of this." Is it just me or do u get the feeling all these Blizz guys used to be politicians? hehehe For the rest of the questions Blizz pretty much took the same old same old "we can neither deny nor confirm" stance.

Battle.Net names will not be case-sensitive. This means that "SPAM" is the same as "spam" or "SPam." (Hey, someone might be interested.)AlenL was asked about patch 7. His exact quote was "Like I [AlenL] said, I don't even know if there wil be a patch 7." More news on this later.
Beta maps will work with the Release!! All one needs to do is open up the beta map with the retail editor and resave it! It's that easy!
