To complete this assignment, you will need to do the following:

  2. Booker T. Washington

  3. Jackie Robinson (bottom half of page)

Women Pioneers

  1. Carrie Chapman Catt

  2. Toni Frissell

  3. Eleanor Roosevelt

War Heroes

  1. General John Joseph Pershing (biography) (anecdote)

  2. General George S. Patton, Jr. (diary entries) (biography)

  3. General Douglas MacArthur

  1. Complete notes template for each person.

  2. Once templates are finished, write your proposal to Mr. Brokaw.  This is to be in the form of a persuasive essay.  For more information and instruction, view this process guide.  (When you refute the opposition, think about why Mr. Brokaw would NOT want to include the person in his book)

  3. Your proposals will need to be at least 3-5 paragraphs in length and have the basic parts of a persuasive essay.

  4. Once you have finished your three proposals, you will choose one person to present to Mr. Brokaw (the class).  For this presentation, you will not simply read to us your proposal, but will instead use the speech outline.  For more information about the parts of the persuasive speech outline, view this study guide and then click on Persuasive Speech Parts Explained.  Use only the parts listed on the speech outline form.
