When did the Thalian Theatre Group form?
The Thalians, as we like to be known were formed back in 1972.
When and where are rehearsals held?
Rehearsals are held at Laindon Community Centre in Aston Road.
They take place every Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 8:00 and 10:00.
What type of productions do you stage?
We have performed a great diversity of plays, ranging from Harold Pinter through to
William Shakespeare.
Where do you normally stage your productions?
We have performed in many different locations but the Towngate Theatre in Basildon is our preferred home.
How many productions do you perform in a year?
We like to stage 3 productions annually.
Are there any age restrictions on joining?
We welcome everyone from 16 upwards. There is no upper age limit.
How much does it cost to become a member?
Membership subscription is currently set at £96 a year. This is can be paid in full
on joining or spread out over 12 monthly payments of £8.
How is the group organised?
We have an elected committee headed by the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Entertainment
Secretary and Publicity Officer. Elections are held annually.
The committee meets regularly with group organisation and current activities being
the main items on the agenda.
Can I be involved without acting?
Yes. There are many ways in which you can be involved in amateur dramatics without acting.
These include: stage management, props, directing, scenery, sound and lighting.
