Men at Arms
by Terry Pratchett - adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs

Men at Arms.........What's it all about.
In a nutshell, it could be described as "The Keystone Cops meets the Lord of the Rings"! It's a story set on Terry Pratchett's Discworld, in the city of Anhk - Morpork, and it involves many colourful characters with equally colourful names (Carrot, Colon & Nobby for starters!).

There are love affairs, one involving a heroic, handsome six foot plus man (who is a dwarf by adoption) and a beautiful elegant woman (who is also a werewolf one week out of four!). The other romantic entanglement is between a world-weary Police Captain (who despises the aristocracy) and an eccentric noblewoman (who has a passionate fondness for small explosive reptiles!).

Enter into the mix a subversive plot to restore the city's true King to the throne, by a more than slightly deranged assasin who possesses the Discworld's first rifle, and the story is, erm.....volatile to say the least!

Stephen Briggs has been involved in amateur dramatics for over 25 years and has assured us that the play can be staged without needing the budget of Industrial Light and Magic. Not only that, but the cast should still be able to be in the pub well before closing time.
