Wes Craven
Wes Craven is considered on of the "masters of terror" in the horror film industry. His first film he brought to us was The Last House On The Left (1972), which shocked audiences everywhere. He later went on to make The Hills Have Eyes in 1977, another cult classic horror film, and A Nightmare On Elm Street in 1984. He also directed the popular slasher trilogy, the Scream series. His other films include The People Under The Stairs, The Serpent and the Rainbow, New Nightmare, Wishmaster, and Cursed.
John Carpenter
John Carpenter brought us the most successful independent film of all time, Halloween. He also composed the original score, which is now widely famous. He also directed The Fog in 1980, and Escape from New York In 1982. His other films include The Thing, Christine, Prince of Darkness, Village of the Damned, Vampires, and Ghosts of Mars.
Sean S. Cunningham
Sean S. Cunningham is probably most known for the popular 1980 slasher, Friday the 13th. He also teamed up with Wes Craven back in 1972 and created The Last House On The Left. He also produced the films Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, Jason X, and Freddy Vs. Jason.
George A. Romero
George A. Romero is most known for the 1968 cult zombie movie Night of the Living Dead, and 1978's Dawn of the Dead. His other films include Creepshow, The Crazies, Day of the Dead, Monkey Shines, and Bruiser.
Tobe Hooper
Tobe is most known for directing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 1974. He later directed Eaten Alive (1977), The Funhouse (1981), Poltergeist (1982), Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (1986, and directed 2003's Toolbox Murders remake. All of his films are very atmospheric and all are very good (except for Crocodile which he directed in 2000. That movie was awful).
