Havok

Real Name: Alex Summers (previously Alex Masters)

Mutant Power: Ability to fire force blasts from his hands

Voice Actor: Matt Hill (who also does Carlos in Armada and Energon)

Guest Appearances: "The Cauldron, Part 1"; "The Cauldron, Part 2"; "Growing Pains"; "Adrift"; "Blind Alley"; "Ascension, Part 1"; and "Ascension, Part 2"

Back Story: Alex, Scott Summer's younger brother, was with the rest of his family on a plane during a storm when a lightning bolt suddenly hit the engine of the plane. Knowing that they only had seconds before the plane blew, Alex and Scott's parents went to get the parachutes- only to find that two were left. Giving their young boys the remaining parachutes, the Summers parents made their children go off first, while they went down with the plane. During the parachute fall, however, a piece of flaming debris struck Scott's parachute, sending him spiraling out of control away from Alex's parachute. Alex apparently landed alright, and (although this is where it gets vague) was somehow adopted eventually by foster parents and moved to Hawaii with them.
Roughly 10 years pass, and Alex finds during a shark attack that he has Mutant powers. Scott, alive and well, finds Alex soon afterwards in Hawaii after being sent there by the Professor, who had detected Alex using Cerebro. They bond again, after being separated for so long, and although Alex doesn't want to join the X-Men- surfing is too big a part of his life- he and Scott do visit every now and then. He WAS seen in an X-Man uniform in the "Ascension" two-parter, but it seems that this was just a temporary alliance so he could help fend off Apocalypse.

Personality: Alex's personality wasn't fleshed out too much, but from what is revealed, he's a "surfer dude", and spends much of his time on the beach in Hawaii. He's apparently getting pretty good, as he's participating in semi-pro events. Alex seems to go a bit overboard (oops, ignore the pun) when it comes to surfing, though, and will sometimes ignore obvious dangers- such as bad weather- in order to get that extra bit of surfing in. He gets along with Scott pretty well, though, despite their rather big differences. Alex definitely seems a lot more easygoing than his older brother, that's for sure.

Final Reflections: I wasn't particularly fond of Havok, namely because I didn't like his voice. It got rather annoying at parts, and the whole "surfer dude" tone seemed a bit forced. If you just take his personality, though, he makes a pretty good background character- Scott's immature, but still likable, little brother.
