T

onar takes a step back, slightly bows in respect, and then silently leaves the room.

The room echoes that silence as he continues into the hallway and back to his room. As he approaches, he hears the moonlight sweetness of flutesong coming from the bard's room.

When morning comes and the birds stir in the courtyard trees, a servant arrives at his door with an invitation to breakfast with Daverris--the servant's barely hidden amusement seems to imply that Tonar is free to decline--and supplies for the journey ahead. The servant informs him that "your philosophical companion" has already left; apparently there is an easier southern road to Qenar that goes instead through the desert. Certainly it seems that if they separate they will cause less comment, if anyone noted their passage together in this area (courtesy of Daverris).

At breakfast, Daverris tells Tonar that they might not get along but as long as they have the Magistra's interests in common, he can respect that.
