The Art of Science Fiction and Fantasy... ARTISTS Anyone who enjoys science fiction and fantasy novels can not help but notice the unbelievable artwork of the genre. I know very little about art, all I do know is what I like. I love fantasy art for the places it can take me and the characters I can meet. Sometimes my favorite characters are "faceless" in my mind. What I mean by that is I can't always get a clear mental image other than body shape and hair color. They have no face in my mind's eye. An artists rendition, which is often approved by the author and his/her vision of the character, can give me that face I hadn't before seen. The same is true for me sometimes with places, buildings, and vehicles (such as spaceships).
Keith Parkinson is my newest interest. His cover art for the Terry Goodkind novel Temple of the Winds is what drew me to buying it and I don't regret that at all. Terry is now one of my favorite authors. That's the power of cover art. He has also done covers for Anne McCaffrey and Terry Brooks. On his website you can purchase limited edition prints rather inexpensively..
