Ilare, formally known as Tilarekna (Oh, no more shall I have to spout "Call me Reka. Or Rekna. Or Tilla, or Tilra, or Leka. But call me Rekky and I'll break yer nose."), is no longer a girl with a mouthful of a name, now both former Weyr brat and ex-Ista Weyr resident, and currently Kamikaze Weyrling at High Reaches weyr, lifemate to Chanticoth.
DESCRIPTION:
@Wearing: Silken fabric of kingfisher blue has been spun into a smart yet practical shirt. Hemline tucks neatly into formfitting trousers made of sturdy strong wher-hide, sleek and smooth in texture and dyed the darkest tone royalty's blue can be. Fastened 'round her waist, sapphire dyed leather has been fashioned into a belt, firm metal rings for the attachment of riding straps glinting silver. Knee high boots, the colour of darkness, blend with the trous, molding their way up her calfs.
@knot: Double twisted cords, blackest midnight and royalty's blue, have been braided with a bright brandy-butter brown ribbon and fashioned into a single loop, long tail proclaiming her to be a full fledged Brown Rider of High Reaches Weyr, the badge on her jacket bearing the 'Z' of the wing, Zephyr.
AGE: 20 Turns, 1 month, and 12 days old

PERSONALITY:
She's cheerful - evn more so now she's a lifemate with a rather colourful sense of humour. Quite a mellow, friendly person, she is not one to suffer fools easily. Ilare has near-infinite patient with her friends. Except, perhaps, with Cayl. Or the KamikazeGreens when they go Proddy **fear**. Not particularly flirty - often, she is oblivious to that sort of thing unless it's blatently obvious, and then she ignores it - thanks to a tight bonding with a handsome brown for a lifemate, Ilare's hint of shyness has faded, cheerful exterior that beams at everybody coming into play far more.
She rarely involves herself in hostilities, although she quite enjoys watching someone get their just desserts if they deserve it. However, she has a temper that, once it gets started, ends in ice and fury: ask any kamikaze, and they'll tell you she's one rider you don't want to make mad. She, like her dragon, adores her food, but doesn't eat as much as she once did - and often finds herself reminding her dragon that over-indulgence can lead to many things - including purging! Thankfully, Chanticoth never needed one during weyrling hood, but that doesn't stop Ilare watching his weight. Or he hers.
Ilare has recently began to take a greater interest in fashion - if only because her dragon's sense of style is undeniably the toast of pernese fashion - and has recently begun to indulge in her terrori--uhhh.. her need for retail therapy by bothering the weavercraft to make her new outfits.
Oh, and one last thing: She hates insects. Well, crawlies. She REALLY hates crawlies. Tunnel snakes she can cope with, and small furry animals are fine, but crawlies? Ewwwwwww!!
HISTORY:
Since she started life on HT as Tilarekna, so her history shall also...
Daughter of B'oat, rider of Blue Shippith, and Reena, rider of Green Visath (deceased), Tilarekna was born and raised for almost her entire life in Ista, at the Weyr. Unlike most kidbits whom are born to dragonriders, her parents had been weyrmated for several turns, and were delighted at her birth. The two were been determined to raise her well, together. Sadly, this plan and dream was shattered when Tilarekna Turned 4, and Visath was severely scored during Thread fall. Reena, also horrible hurt from coming out of ::Between:: and being caught by an unexpected clump, took her dragon ::Between::. And neither reappeared, lost to the darkness. Grief stricken, both B'oat and Shippith holed themselves up in their weyr. And Reka, their only remaining link to they lost weyr mates, became their reason for all they did. B'oat, proud, doting and overprotective papa was born. For the most part, Reka was a fairly well behaved Weyrbrat (except, of course, when there were Candidates to play with!), and lived in her father's weyr with him and his dragon until, at fourteen turns of age, she insisted she was old enough to live in the Residents Dorms, and thus escaped her overprotective father's eyes. Thus, she could do as she wanted now (albeit AFTER her chores) and was able to get into more mischief. Making friends with several Weyr brats, Reka was never teased about her weight. And she was certainly what one might consider on the heavy side. A love of food drove her to asking Annalysa if she could be her apprentice, so that she could learn the art of baking. She wasn't very good, and suffice to say, soon found herself wearing the plain knot of your regular Ista Weyr resident. When she was approaching her fifteenth Turnday, an unexpected, but delighted event occurred! Asked to stand in the next Ista Weyr Hatching by Jesha, whose dragon was quite insistent that she did, she accepted and moved into the Candidate Dorms. Here she met and made close friendships with Orb, Torey, Saendi and Melissa, and found that her baker mentor Annalysa had also been Searched. Half way through her Candidacy, she Impressed a small but cheerful little brown fire lizard she named Bay, who delighted her fellow candidates by not waking them in the middle of the night with his creelings, reserving them as wake up calls at the crack of dawn (although HOW he knew when the sun rose within stone walls was anybodies guess). With folks whom she looked forward to (hopefully!) Impressing with and having fun with as a rider, Tilarekna's luck (as usual) would not run smooth. Taken ill unexpectedly one night in the Living Caverns, her father took her to the healers, who realised that her sickness was more severe than it truly appeared. Sadly, B'oat informed the Weyrleaders that his daughter would not be able to Stand, and wrapped up in blankets, he took her ::Between:: to Fort and the main healer hall, where she stayed till she was well again. Once chubby and cheerful, the girl who recovered from sickness was thin, tired easily, but still as cheerful as ever. Once she had recovered her strength, she was sent to Fort Weyr to have an eye kept on her by the Weyr Healer there, and at Fort she stayed a turn till the healers were certain that she would not succumb to a relapse. Although the main reason she stayed at the Weyr was the fact she could not cope with Hold life - the hold baffled her, and she missed being surrounded by dragons; how folks could be intimidated by the great beasts and their riders was lost on the Weyr-grown child - she found herself asked to stand for the Fort Hatching. This time, she made it to the Sands, but it appeared that there would be no Impression for her that day. Returning home, she found herself happily re-immersed in Istan Weyr life, and greeted by the delightful news several of her friends had Impressed! Orbit (Orb), Ndi (Saendi), Melsa (Melissa) and Torey had all gained life mates on the Sands, which meant she'd get to hang around the Weyr with them for the rest of time. When the next Istan Hatching came around, she was not asked to stand. But that did not stop her playing with the lovely new candies. Archellian was met in the early hours of one morning, and Hyzen soon became as close a friend as one might hope for. Carelock, an older rider, was soon extended a paw of friendship and Morath's rider was soon an often searched for morning klah companion. Thus, winter came, and much complaining of the cold was had. She Turned 18, was gifted a green and a bronze fire lizard, whom she names Jolinar and Kairo respectively. New friends were made in the forms of healer sr. apprentice Caylea, fellow weyrfolk Terpsichore, the latest Ista Weyr Headwoman Yver (who showed GREAT interest in her father.. and who B'oat now spends a good deal of time running away from.. :), and a strange fellow teen called Nevarre, who, in her opinion is quite, quite mad... But winter did not last long (thank goodness!), and soon it was spring once more. The sun was shining, the rain was gone.. and random thread falls started. Worryworryworry. Amidst this chaos, there was a mating flight at High Reaches weyr, which resulted in a large clutch of 37 eggs, no gold. No real news there, after all, eggs always follow after a flight.. But, on the seventy-first day of spring, of the 25th turn of the 10th Pass, a Lis appeared on her green dragon, Alymath, and the pair Search-napped Reka and Caylea! Huzzah! After threatening them with either getting nekkid for a swim, or Standing at their Hatching, Tilarekna is now playing the waiting game to see if she shall be worthy of Impressing one of the hatchlings on the sands of High Reaches Weyr. So, the wait was on, and new friends made: fellow candidates Sasha, Siannen, Slippa and Gideon, along with a familiar named Herder sr. apprentice called Korsair - her cousin (so many times removed) Paige's mentee. Also from Ista, familiar faces appeared in the form of Mosiah and Hyzen, and (of course) Caylea. Spending frozen days within the safety of the caverns, complaining about the 'unnatural' cold, Tilarekna managed to befriend several of the High Reaches Weyr natives: Etowaru, Darien, Kinecha and Bronagh (to name but a few). Thus, the time flew, fast approaching the day when the eggs would crack, and new lifemates would be made on the Sands. A bet was made 'tween Pia and Tilarekna about the vinter's chances of Impressing - if Pia failed to be Impressed, her candidate robe would be dyed pink, and worn for at least six months after the Hatching. And then.. it was Egg Cracking time. Rushed out of the candidate barracks, the group clung in various groups as they performed the usual dance-steps of the Sands. Left, right and center, dragons broke their shells and marched, stumbled, flopped and crawled their way across the sands towards various white-garbed candidates. On the sidelines, riders and curious folks alike watched on, Goldrider Nuff waving her little flag in welcome towards the candidates and hatchlings.
And that, as they say, was that. Renamed 'Ilare' (a name so much more nicer (and easier!) to say than Tilarekna), the new brown rider escorted her lifemate off the sands, and into a new life as a High Reaches Weyrling. And Pia (dyed pink thanks to a prank played by Lyri, and left standing on the sands) now had to wear pink for the rest of the turn. Thus, Ilare became a Weyrling, member of the Kamikaze wing (a name many thought to be quite appropriate ;) along with almost all her friends! Slippa had Impressed to green Zizth; R'ave (formally known as Rauve) was partnered by bronze Soquilith; Tatoria became Tatia, lifemate of green Vespurath; Sorana was now Sora, blue Catiminith's rider, while Gideon lost the 'i' and became G'deon, bronze Nylanth's rider. Sasha had Impressed green Branwyth, and Caylea became Cayl, shadow-loving blue Mzadith's rider. Sraine became a fellow brown rider upon being chosen by brown Akilth and finally, Hyzen won the heart of green Imbriath.
And of course, there was Chanticoth. Stunned that she would Impress at all after several attempts, Ilare adored Chanticoth, and he in turn adored her back. The pair shared a very tight bond (as well as a whole host of nicknames for eachother), although this often led to occasionally problems: reminding him that life on Pern wouldn't end if something happened to her, and making him stay OUTSIDE the living caverns, could often be a little (just a little) annoying. But his multitude of good qualities far surpassed any faults she might find in him, and to her, he is forever perfect.
But not ALL could be good about weyrlinghood. The bad included being disturbed by the newer Impressed weyrlings from cadgwith's clutch, and being picked on by (NPC) D'argo and bronze Luxonth, the bane of Ilare's weyrlinghood, and the one who ordered her to cut her hair. Tyara sliced her mane short in the early hours of the morn, and the reactions from dragon, fellow weyrlings and those who knew her were.. both amusing and reassuring, to say the least.
That is, till R'gis mentioned HE never had to get his hair trimmed as a weyrling. Neither, it seemed, had many of the older riders. And R'ave's surprise at the cut caused Ilare to lapse back into an unhappy state. Made worse when she misheard someone and stormed out of the living caverns, believing everyone to think her hair cut was bad. Whoops.
Still, Ilare did calm down, and found herself awaiting the final days of being a Junior Weyrling - if ONLY to escape Cadgwith's clutch! Yet more news arrived upon the announcement of Pyrene's pregnancy, which cause much dragonic confusion and embarrassment for Ilare and Cayl when their dragon halfs wondered where human bebes came from.. But soon enough, those early trials and tribulations came to an end upon Graduation Day. Chanticoth and Ilare were moved up with the rest of her clutchmates into the Senior Wing.. but with a nice new dangly knot for her shoulder! To her great surprise, she was made Wingleader of the wing, with G'deon and Hyzen as her wingseconds.
After scouting the weyr one afternoon, the brown 'ling pair found the /perfect/ spot for their very own weyr! Above the central bowl, with a view of practically everything to be seen in the Weyr, Ilare and Chanti had stumbled upon an old, abandoned, and VERY large weyr that they instantly claimed as their own. A small weyrwarming was had, to which was brought wine, and the news that Ista Hold was to be holding their Winter Solstice celebrations. Which, since the weyrling wing had JUST learned to go Between, meant a Gather to go to. Joy of joys! :)
Thus, Tatia and Ilare, with Gids in tow, made their way to the gather, intent on perusing the weaver tents. And, of course, making the ex-smith bronzer carry their bags. And so it came to be that Ilare ordered a blanket for Chanticoth, becoming the Bane of the Weavers with her order, and placing fear within the heart of July from this day forth. They left, of course, but were soon to return again, this time with Hyzen (no G'deon), followed soon enough by Cayl. And then the dragons wanted to dance. After all, it was a gather, right? Ilare however, disagreed, making her dragon promise not to dance. However, two flirty greens had other ideas, and the two cutchmates of the brown 'ling dragon tried to tempt him to move with the beat. This brought back Ilare, anger in her words for her dragon as well as Imbri and Vespurath, and showed her 'ling mates JUST how mad she could get. Not pleasant. She was even compaired to a proddy green rider by Vespurath, except for the whole brown-riding-thing. She cooled down, soon enough, with the help of both dragon and the arrival of her father who planned on visiting the Gather. Apologies were made to Hyzen, who she'd insulted in her fury, and to Tatia for being snappish at Vesp, and was rewarded with apologies in return. Gotta love that Kamikaze bonding.
Home went Ilare, tired, and sorry, but forgiven, and back at the weyr doing work did she stay (all that extra work us wingleaders gotta learn, don'tcha know..). Distracted by work, she was one of the later folks to find out... "They did WHAT?!" Upon hearing the news that G'deon and Tatia's dragons had caused extreme damage to the doors of Ista Hold, Ilare's anger cause her to confront Gids at the pens, wanting to know the truth. With Hyzen and Cayl there, the two stood witness to Ilare told G'deon in no uncertain terms that she wasn't pleased, nor was he to speak to her again. She promptly returned to her weyr and cried her eyes out, something only Cayl was witness to. When the entire wing was sent to aid repairs, Ilare ignored the bronzer, earning concern perhaps from her wingmates, but soon enough the jjob was done. Tatia was, perhaps, the lucky one, having avoided Ilare for the duration of the 'Incident', and thus escaping her wrath. However, even Ilare's anger had to cool off at some point. Soon enough, she apologised, Gids (yet again) apologised, and the two made up over wine. Followed by a flaming class. Followed by yet more chatter in her weyr. And G'deon left not only with their friendship renewed, but a kiss as well.
First threadfall soon arrived, and while a few scores were had here and there by some, Ilare and Chan escaped unharmed. With that last trial over, the only thing to wait and worry about was the finally graduation into 'proper' riders (as though having a dragon didn't count!). Thus, those not being held to the weyr as punishment for the Ista Hold Incident (Aka everyone 'cept Gids and Tatia) went visiting beyond the weyr's reach, and Ilare collected her finally finished blanket, and commissioned a dress for the party the weyrlings were plotting for after the graduation ceremony.
Promptly snapped up by Thesy for the Zephyr wing, along with Slippa and Sasha (eek! TWO Kamikaze greens!) Ilare found herself confronted by hides, work, and.. proddy greens. Chan flew, and caught none of his clutchmates, but green Fuuth was soon his first win, with Lyri's Niahmyth being yet another 0.0;;. However, her heart had clearly been won by Nylanth's rider, the two holding a subtle courtship which most of the weyr didn't find out about till a few months after graduation. A few people guessed, of course, but no one seemed to mind the pair. Although several riders and weyrfolk showed great interest in the bronzer, regardless of whether dragons were proddy or not, Ilare didn't mind. She trusted him, after all, regardless of if Nylanth won a flight.
On the announcement of a new clutch at Ista, along with a queen egg, Ilare worked some time and before it Hatched, got to visit the clutch, met up with her cousin Orbit and even get to look at some of the candidates. And shake her head at dragonic choice. A few others, G'deon included, found their way to admire the pretty pretty eggs, and the pair ended up probed by many a question regarding them as a couple. Escaping interrogation, Ila showed Gids a few of the Ista Weyr sights, and the two spent some quiet time by the waterfall.. Where the G'deon and she talked. Talk that took a very serious turn, with G'deon saying that he valued their friendship too much to hurt her. And that to take things any further would cause that. Perhaps they should stay 'just good friends'. Not without some heartbreak, Ilare agreed finally, and the two parted ways, still friends of course, but..
Distracting herself by doing things for her dragon, Chanticoth decided that it was time for Ilare to get a brand new set of leathers, giving the pair a reason to invade the weaver hall once more and have some fun. Retail therapy, after all, is great. IF you've got the marks for it. Eirtae, the young weaver who made her Graduation Dress, was pounced, and asked to make her a new, much more form fitting set of leathers... A visit to Slippa's weyr the same day for a chat revealed that Zizth's rider was the first of their 'bunch' to be pregnant. Hyzen, Cayl and Sasha soon joined them for a little girl-talk, where opinions about children and pregnacy were shared cheerfully. For teh most part. Ahhh.... Life is good. New leathers are in the works, and Ilare seems determined now to expand her horizons a bit. Just how is anyone's guess, but this is one brownrider who seems to realise that she's pretty, she's got a great lifemate, AND that she's single.. Who knows what might happen next, especially when you're a 'Reaches rider, and a Kamikaze to boot...

[OOC: Unfortunately, I lost all and any Internet access a week before the Hatching and was unable to attend, so I was forced to pull out. :/]
Of course, there are bound to be some folks whom even she can't like, and fellow candidate Pia - Vinter Sr. Appy and Grandaughter of the Lord Holder of Fort (dontcha know?), fited the bill. Cold 'Reaches springtime was complained about muchly by the Istan Weyrgirl, although it was soon more of a running joke between the sun-loving candidates than anything else.
To Tilarekna's delight, many of her friends Impressed, and she clung to the hands of Sasha and Hyzen as she waited to see who would be next. After green Branwyth snatched Sasha from her grasp, Tilarekna remained close to her fellow istan as she watched two browns break their shells, and other colours rapidly surging like waves towards their new partners. And then.. the unexpected happened: Streets before Christmas Brown Dragonet let out a crooning jingle, and Tilarekna was lost in happily whirling eyes...
<< You are exactly what I wanted. >>
A voice, deep and soothing for all its flickering vivacity, illumines your mind.
<< I am Chanticoth, and I am taking you with me, Ilare. >>
>> My name is Chanticoth!
<<
Busy, busy, busy, the life of the weyrlings was not without some quiet time. P'rru, rider of Dsalth, was befriended (and much fired upon with snowballs as winter, 'Reaches Style, set in), and many riders and weyrfolk met.
