Sim Guidelines

Logs

Duty and Personal logs must be 6-7 lines to count AND also be posted on the boards. Bios, joint logs, specs, and so on must also be this length and posted on the boards.

All logs and posts must strictly adhere to AOL TOS (Terms of Service, keyword TOS). The message bords are PG rateed and all logs must be written accordingly.

Specific areas of concern are:
  • No obscene or strong vulgar language.
  • No explicit sexual scenes.
  • No mentoining of sexual body parts, or bodily functions.

Sim Guests

People that are not on the sim can go to sims, but must be cleared by the CO and XO. This rule is exempt if the person is a fleet rep or another board member.

New Approvals

New CO's must do the following:
  • CO bio and pic
  • Ship/Station Specs
  • Crew Roster
These all will go to AdmMoondnceKrell, VCadmCaraParnist, VAdmLanders, and myself. It should be obvious they also go to their respective crews.

CO Ages

CO's have to make a reasonable age for their characters and submit the bio to Admiral Krell and the Fleet Admiral for approval before anything else.

Posting and the SFI Web Page

Logs, bios, specs, etc MUST be posted on the boards and bios, specs, and rosters will be sent to Mr. Landers. If an update on any of these is asked for, it must be done within a reasonable time period.

Promotions

Promotions are based on simming ability, logs written, and attendance. The CO and XO should consider all these when looking at promotions.

Revolts and Secrecy

Revolting and keeping information from the board is not acceptable. Violators will be punished.

High Ranking Promotions

Anyone that is close to Lieutenant Commander and above MUST be cleared with the board and the CO MUST notify the board of who is up for the rank for future command positions.

Chain of Command

Chain of Command must be followed unless information and such is asked by the Fleet Admiral. NOTHING is to be kept from the Fleet Admiral and if there is, violators will be punished.

Recruiting

Recruiting has to be done in sims until it reaches full capacity. CO's are responsible for such and so is the Head of Recruiting, Miater A. Decker.

Creating Characters

No Borg or Q races will be accepted and characters that are not CO's must be 17 or older unless their race fits a different age timeline.

Fleet Representatives

The fleet reps will hear any problems that go on with the sims they are assigned to and will give their reports to Admiral Krell and the Fleet Admiral. If they can't make the sims they are assigned to, they can make a meeting with the CO and XO of that sim on an agreed time by all three.

Board Votes

All Board members will cast one vote apiece on any given issue. The presiding officer of the meeting will have the tie-breaker vote. The Fleet Admiral -reserves the right to vote on any issue regardless if he attends the meeting or not and the power to veto any issues.

. Character Permission

In any log, sim, etc, one person must ask permission of the player(s) involved to use their character(s) (Including NPC's) in situations so it does not create a problem. The agreement is then held for that particular event.
These guidelines are subject to change with notice to those in the group and they will be informed of the changes.

The Chain of Command:

It must work in both directions. In the same way that those on the lower end of the chain need to work up the chain of command, from department head to first officer and CO to Sim Rep to Board to Fleet Admiral, the same MUST work in reverse.
&nbsol    That means, if a board member has a problem with how something was/is being dealt with, he/she cannot just go to the person on the so called bottom and change what has been done/said/ordered, he/she must go to that sim's Sim Rep, then if it is not resolved deal with it with the whole board before it is changed and/or taken back to the CO and XO and on down. We need to be a civilized group, not ones who, willy nilly, step on each others toes.
No decision of a Sim Rep shall be overturned or altered without due process. And that due process means we must talk and vote BEFORE any further action is taken. Any objection to a decision by a Sim Rep must be brought before the board and will only be overturned or altered by a majority vote of the board.

Board decisions:

These must be made at meetings with a quorum of the board members. No issue can be presented to the group as a rule without the board having voted on it. IE: no person should be informed that they have a position (XO and above including things like recruiter, web designer, etc.) until and unless the board meets and votes on it. They should be told they are being 'considered' if anything is said to them at all. This will avoid hurt feelings and the like if they are not voted in. Likewise, changes in current policy cannot be made without being voted on.
;    Not all decisions are board decisions. CO's have to have the rights to do certain things within their own sims without having to ask permission. Reps must be able to work with their assigned sims without having to go to the board for each and every little issue. Otherwise there is no reason to have Reps.
Some decisions break down as follows:
  • Board decisions:
    • New CO's, not only is there a vote in this case, but also there must be an interview with the CO candidate.
    • New XO's, an interview is not always necessary, but the CO must also approve the XO candidate.
    • Promotions above Lt. Commander (Vice Admiral Armstrong feels this should be changed to Commander).
    • New policies, such as changes in the Admirals award, changes in the rules and regs, additional rules and regs, etc.
    • Reprimands of Board Members.
  • Sim Rep Decisions:,br> Removal of disruptive simmers. Done in conjunction with the CO. If it is decided that the CO or XO are the ones who need to be removed, then it becomes a board decision.
    • Posting problems within their specified sims.
    • Simmer relation problems that the CO and/or XO cannot or will not resolve.
  • CO Decisions:
The CO of a sim will have authority over the following:
    • Choice of XO, with the understanding that their choice must be ratified by the board's vote.
    • Reprimands of disruptive crewpersons, IC and OOC. (Sim Rep's should be informed either before or immediately after such occurrences).
    • Promotions within their crew, approval must be gained from the board with Lt. Commander and above as always. (unless changed to commander, as per notation above)
    • Most awards to their crewmembers (aside from the Fleet Admiral's Award). And they are encouraged to make use of awards as a way to reward and encourage their crew.

Respect Of Simmers:

All simmers will be treated with respect, from the Fleet Admiral to Cadet to Civilians. Disrespectful treatment will result in disciplinary action against the offender. This can be as simple as a verbal warning up to as severe as removal from the group. Disciplinary actions against violators will be decided by the Board or a disciplinary panel.
