Jar Jar Binks is a clumsy Gungan. He was banished because he "boomed the Gasser" and "Crashen the Boss's Heyblibber".
He bumped into Qui-Gon Jinn in the swamps on Naboo. He then bumped into Obi-Wan Kenobi later on the planet.
He helped Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan by leading them down to the city of Otah Gunga. There he was arrested for breaking the "no-combackie" law.
He was released by Boss Nass after Qui-Gon done a mind trick and told him that Jar Jar owed him a life debt. Boss Nass the supplied the Jedi and Jar Jar with a Bongo and they went through the core of Naboo to talk to the Queen of Naboo.
