Jedi Heritage IV: The Lost Jedi
Chapters 5-8

-Chapter 5-

Ben set the starfighter down on a little piece of land that jetted out into what looked like a big swampy ocean. Master Yoda stood there waiting for Ben to get out of the starfighter. Ben finally hopped out and walked up to Master Yoda. He lowered to one knee and looked at the small Jedi Master.

"Master Kenobi. Here, what brings you?"
"Master Yoda, I have sensed a disturbance in the Force. A presence that I've never felt before. Could it be that there is another Jedi somewhere? A Jedi that was overlooked?"
     "Possible it is."
"I wish to search for whoever it is."
     "Granted."
     "Where should I search first?"
     "Dantoonie, search first I would."
"Yes, Master. Dantoonie. If I find the Jedi there, I will go straight to Alderaan, take the Jedi with me, and protect Padmé."

Master Yoda only nodded. Ben stood up and bowed. He walked back to his starfighter and hopped back in the cockpit. He put his headset on, pressed the canopy close switch, and pressed the ignition switch. The starfighter took off and they docked with the hyperspace ring and went in to hyperspace immediately.

"Arfour, I'm going to take a little nap. Wake me in a couple of hours."

The little droid beeped and whistled. Ben looked at the translation screen and read "Dantoonie?" Ben just smiled and laughed.

"Yes, Arfour. Dantoonie. Don't worry. Everything will be fine."

Arfour bleeped a worried whistle. Ben laughed again. He finally closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. He began to see images of the Jedi that he was trying to find. She was standing on a balcony overlooking an ocean of grass and trees. He smiled in his sleep. Master Yoda was right. She was on Dantoonie. It would take them some time to get to Dantoonie.

He continued to sleep. It was almost like something popped the bubble in his mind. He then saw Anakin falling into the pit of lava over and over again. It was almost like it was repeating over and over again in his mind. Something was making him think that it was his fault.

"IT WAS NOT MY FAULT!" He screamed, "IT WAS NEVER MY FAULT!"

It was almost like he was fighting someone in his sleep. He almost punched the glass out of the canopy. He woke up and shook his head. They were still in hyperspace.

     "How much longer?"

The little droid bleeped a message that appeared on the translation screen. It read "One day, 12 hours."

"Huh?! How long was I out for?!"

The was no reply. It felt like he was out for a few hours, but it couldn't be. He closed his eyes again and fell back to sleep. This time nothing bothered him. He slept peacefully for the first time in a long time.

When he woke up, they were out of hyperspace and floating stationary in space. The little droid beeped a little something that popped up on the translation screen that read "We have been out of hyperspace for a couple hours, but didn't want to wake you. How did you sleep?"

"Wow. Thanks, Arfour. I slept great, thanks. Okay, let's undock from the ring and land on Dantoonie."

Arfour made a quiet whistle. It sounded like to Ben that the little droid was worried about him. *He's just a droid.* Ben thought. He laughed quietly to himself. He didn't know what he dream before was about, but he'll try to figure it out. *Sometimes, dreams can't be figured out." He thought to himself. He wondered about how he was going to find who he was looking for. He knew what she looked like from the images that he saw of her. He just didn't know how to find her. *Maybe she'll come to me.* He thought again.

The starfigher undocked and they flew down to the surface of Dantoonie. It had been a while since he had been to Dantoonie. He couldn't remember the exact reason why he went, but he remembered that he had been. He also didn't remember Master Yoda telling him that a Jedi was ever on Dantoonie. Of course why would he? Dantoonie was out of the reach of the Republic.

He landed the ship and hopped out of it. He looked around and saw hardly anybody around. *Why would anyone want to come to a planet like this?* He thought. He walked away from the starfighter and into what looked like a small town. He heard a girl talking. She had the most beautiful voice. Almost as beautiful as ShiriKei's. He could almost sense ShiriKei's presence all around him. He welcomed this presence. He missed her so much. He couldn't deny it any longer. By the time they wanted to come out with their relationship, Anakin had turned to Darth Vader and was killing every Jedi he saw. ShiriKei was one of the first Jedi that Anakin killed, and Ben witnessed it.

A small tear ran down his cheek has he thought about it. He followed the beautiful voice until he got to a building. He knocked on the door a couple times and the door squeaked open. He carefully stepped in and continued to follow the voice. He stopped at another door and put his ear up to the door. He could hear her behind the door. He knocked a couple times. No one answered. He knocked again. This time a young woman about the same age as Ben opened the door. She was dressed in normal Jedi clothing and had two lightsabers on her belt. He made a mental note about that and decided to asked her later.

Morai looked at the young man and noticed that he was a Jedi. *That's what Rai meant.* She thought. She smiled, as she looked at him.

"Hello. My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi."
"Hello. I'm Morai Malinze. Please come in."
"Thank you." Obi-Wan said, walking into the room.

He looked around and saw the balcony that he saw in his image. He turned and looked at Morai. This was her. He found who he was looking for. He smiled as he looked out from the balcony.

     "How can I help you?"
"I have been searching for you. You are the lost Jedi."
     "The lost Jedi?"
     "Yes."
Ylla looked at Morai. She was confused just because she didn't understand the ways of the Jedi or the Force. Obi-Wan looked at Ylla and smiled. Ylla stood up and walked over to the door.

"I'll talk to you later, okay Morai?"
     "Okay."

Ylla walked out of the room. Morai walked towards Obi-Wan standing on the balcony. They stood there looking out over the trees and grass. Morai looked down and the floor and sighed.

"Darth Vader killed my friend Rai." She whispered.
"I know. I sensed it through the Force."
"I guess that you are here for a reason, huh?"
"Yes. I need you to come with me to Alderaan."
     "Alderaan? Why?"
"It's kind of a long story."
"Well, let me fix something to eat and we'll talk about it over dinner."
     "Okay."
-Chapter 6-

Obi-Wan and Morai sat at the table eating the meal that she just prepared. Between bites Obi-Wan told Morai the whole story. He told her about how Anakin got to be a Jedi, how they fought over the lava pit, and him becoming Darth Vader. Every now and then a tear would fall down Morai's cheek. Obi-Wan looked at her and wiped the tear with the sleeve of his tunic.

Morai looked at him and sighed. Obi-Wan continued on. He finally told her about why he wanted her to go with him to Alderaan.

"You need me to go to Alderaan so that this Padmé and her daughter would have a Jedi protector at all times because you will be on Tatoonie with her son?"
     "That's correct."
"I don't know, Obi-Wan. I've never met her and she's never met me. She might feel a little offended by me being there protecting her when you were assigned to do it."
"I know, but don't worry. I'll take care of it."
     "Okay. When do we leave?"
"Tomorrow. I'm going to go back to my starfighter and get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Why don't you sleep here? I have an extra bed."
     "You sure?"
"Yeah. Sure. It used to be Rai's."
"I don't want to sleep in it then, if it was his."
"It's okay. As soon as I leave this planet, I won't be back."
"Okay. Sure. I still have to go to my fighter and get my bag of extra clothes"
"You look about Rai's height. If you want you can have some of his clothes."
     "You sure about that?"
"Yeah. I have his lightsaber. That's all I need to remember him."
     "Okay."

They finished their meal. Morai stood up and took the dishes into the kitchen area. She put them in the sink and watched as Obi-Wan stood up and walked back out to the balcony. There was something about that balcony that amazed him. Morai walked up to him and stood beside him.

"You see that small pyre over there?"
     "Yeah."
"That's where I burned Rai a few days ago."
"I'm so sorry about what happened. I feel partially responsible."
"No. Don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault that Anakin turned to the Dark Side. He did that on his own."
     "Yeah." Obi-Wan whispered.

Morai looked at Obi-Wan and cocked her head a bit. She could see the frustration and aggravation in his face. In a way she felt sorry for him. Obi-Wan looked at Morai and walked back inside the apartment. He sat up against the wall and meditated.

Morai continued standing on the balcony. She watched the sky fill with stars. She could still sense Rai's presence all around her. It was almost like he had led Obi-Wan to her. She turned and walked back into the room she saw Obi-Wan sitting on the room. He appeared to be asleep. She walked over to Rai's bed and picked up a blanket. She walked back over to Obi-Wan and covered him with the blanket.
-Chapter 7-

When Morai woke in the morning, she saw Obi-Wan laying on Rai's bed fast asleep. *He must have laid down after she went to sleep.* She thought. She got up and grabbed her robe. She put it on and walked over to where Obi-Wan was sleeping. For a little while there it looked like he was fighting someone in his sleep, then he calmed down and started resting eacefully.

She walked out to the balcony. The sun of Dantoonie was slowly rising. It was so beautiful. She smiled as she watched. Obi-Wan woke up and stretched. He did sleep peacefully. He got up and walked out to the balcony. He stood beside Morai. They stood there watching the sun rise.

"We need to go." Obi-Wan said, "Do you have a ship?"
     "Yes. I do. Let's go."

They walked back into the apartment and walked over to the door. Morai picked up her bag that sat beside the door. The door slid open and she and Obi-Wan walked out. They walked back to Obi-Wan's starfighter. She ship sat next to his. *Its a very beautiful ship.* Obi-Wan thought.

"Thank you." Morai said looking at him.

She winked and walked up the ramp and walked into the cockpit. She pressed the ignition switch and watched as Obi-Wan hopped into his starfighter and took off. She took off and met him up in space.

"Morai, you there?" Obi-Wan said through a his headset.
"I'm right here." She said into her's.
"Okay. I'm sending coordinates to your ship for Alderaan. All you have to do is follow me into hyperspace and on to Alderaan."
"Okay. Are you sure that it'll be all right for me to be there?"
"I'm sure. I'll be in contact with you from time to time while we are in hyperspace. I'm going to make the jump. Wait a couple of minutes and then make the jump."
"Okay. May the Force be with you."

She watched as Obi-Wan's starfighter that was docked to a hyperspace ring make the jump. She sat there for a couple of minutes and made the jump to hyperspace. She looked out of the window in the cockpit and watched the stars become starlines. She wondered what Alderaan was like. *I'll ask Obi-Wan.* She thought.

"Morai, are you there?" Obi-Wan's voice came through her headset.
     "I'm here."
"For right now everything seems to be fine. We should reach Alderaan in a few hours. Don't worry. You'll love it there."
     "Are you sure?"
     "Yes. I'm sure. Don't worry."
"Are you all right?" Morai asked concerned.
"Yeah. I'm just thinking about something."
"What is Alderaan like?" Obi-Wan heard through his headset.
"It's a very beautiful place. It's so full of life."

Obi-Wan continued on about Alderaan. He could heard Morai breathing softly. It was the most beautiful sounds that he has ever heard. He closed his eyes and meditated. He then heard a beautiful voice. A voice that he hasn't heard in a while.

     "Obi-Wan." The voice said.
     "ShiriKei!" He said.
"Do not blame yourself for what happened it me. It was the way of the Force."
"No. It could not have been. You died by the hand of Anakin. I watched him do it. I tried to save you..."
"I know. I know that you did. I can't tell you when I'll come see you again. I just want you to know that I love you. I always have and always will."
     "I love you, too."

With that, ShiriKei was gone. Obi-Wan opened his eyes and looked through the canopy. He watched the starlines. He continued to think about her. There was something about Morai that reminded him for ShiriKei.
-Chapter 8-

They came out of hyperspace just outside of Alderaan's orbit. Morai looked out of the window of her ship to see Obi-Wan's undocking from the hyperspace ring. She moved her's up towards his.

     "Morai, you ready?"
     "As I'll ever be."
"Okay. Let's go. Padmé and Bail will be waiting for us when we land."

     "Okay."

They descended towards Alderaan. Morai was in complete awe of the beauty of the planet. She had never seen a place so beautiful.

They landed in what looked like a hanger. Obi-Wan hopped out of his starfighter and grabbed his bag out of the storage hold. Morai walked down the ramp to her ship with her bag in hand. She walked over to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan turned his head and saw Padmé and Bail walking towards them.

"Ben." Padmé said looking at him, "I hope that your journey was safe."
"It was. Padmé, Bail, this is Morai Malinze. She's a Jedi Knight."
"Hello Morai and Welcome." Bail said looking at her.
"Hello. Thanks. You must be Bail and you must be Padmé."

They nodded. Obi-Wan smiled. Morai looked at Obi-Wan and saw that he was smiling.

"Come. We'll get you settled in." Padmé said.

They walked through an overhang that was outlined by bushes and tress. Morai looked at each one. Obi-Wan just looked at her.

"Everything all right?" Bail said looking at Morai.
"Yes, of course. I've never seen plants like these."
"Really? Where are you from?" Padmé asked.
     "Dantoonie." Morai replied.

Padmé looked at Obi-Wan. He smiled and shrugged. They continued on walking through the overhang and up a could flights of stairs. When they finished walking up stairs, they were inside what looked like a huge room of a mansion. It was well decorated with paintings and furniture. Morai looked around the whole room and studied it. Bail walked up to her and stood there beside her.

"So, you'll be staying here with us?"
     "If that's okay, sir."
"Of course it's okay. You are welcome here, but please call me Bail."
     "Okay."
"Come. I'll show you to your room and then we'll get something to eat."
They walked out of the huge room and walked down a hallway. Bail stopped at a door and opened it. Morai stepped in and Bail followed. It was a big room, bigger than her apartment on Dantoonie. She immediately fell in love with the room.

     "You like it?" Bail asked.
     "I love it." She said.

She set her bag on the bed and walked out of the room with Bail. They walked towards the dining room. Obi-Wan and Padmé were already sitting down eating. Bail and Morai walked towards the table. Bail pulled out a chair that was beside Obi-Wan and motioned for Morai to have a seat. She sat down and Bail gently pushed the chair a little closer to the table. Then, Bail took a seat beside Padmé.

Morai wasn't really hungry, but she ate a little bit of the food that was on her plate. She didn't know what it was called or what it was, but it was pretty good. She then looked at Obi-Wan. He looked at her and smiled. Padmé cleared her throat and looked at Obi-Wan.

"Ben, have you seen or heard from Anakin?"
"No. I have not. Morai unfortunately has." He said looking at Padmé.

Padmé looked at Morai. Morai couldn't say anything. Of course she's seen the person that they are calling Anakin, but to her he'll always be Darth Vader. She hated Vader for what he took from her. She looked at Padmé. She didn't like the way that Padmé was looking at her. She stood up and walked out of the dining room. She went back to her room and stood in front of a huge window. A few minutes later Obi-Wan walked in. He walked up to her and stood beside her.

     "Morai, what's wrong?"
"I'm beginning to think that this was a bad idea."
     "What do you mean?"
"Leaving Dantoonie. I shouldn't have done it. I should have just stayed there."

Obi-Wan wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close to him. He knew what she was talking about. She missed Rai and she hated Anakin for what he did. He looked at her and saw tears stream down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked you to come."
"It's not your fault. It's fine. I love it here. It's so beautiful."
     "That it is."

They stood at the window watching the sun set. Obi-Wan knew that it was going to be a tough time for Morai. It was a tough time for everyone that was left. Morai and Obi-Wan had a lot of things in common. They both have lost someone that they loved because of Anakin and they both had to Force. There were other things, but those two meant the most to them. For they knew that if they could not access the Force, they would die.

Morai then wrapped an arm around Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan just looked at her and smiled. Morai knew that she could not fill the void that was in his heart, she wasn't even going to try to. As they stood at that window, she could sense that she was safe and that not matter what she was going to always be safe.
