FEAR AND LOATHING IN THE MILKY WAY

Gerentex, (the Night Sider from episodes one and two) runs into Harper and Trance on the Mauru. He is running from someone because of his debts from losing the Andromeda. He takes Trance and Harper hostage and forces Harper to go into Slipstream to get away form his enemy.

Gerentex shoots Harper and Trance with a nano-virus thing, enabling him to give the two of them nasty electric shocks with the press of a button. Harper manages to get the upper hand, however, and spins the ship while he and Trance are safely strapped in.

Harper beats his plan out of Gerentex, who tells them that he knows the location of the diary of a legendary mad Persiad who claimed he found the long lost Commonwealth captial whilst navigating slipstream.

When they arrive at its alledged resting place, the three hurry through the traps left by the mad Persiad and find the diary.

Harper and Gerentex then get into a power struggle which comes to a stand still. This is ended by a very annoyed Trance who has been fed up witht he two for a long time.

Review

Woohoo! Another Harper episode! This ep wasn’t as good as Harper 2.0 but still among my favourites.

Gerentex didn’t seem like that much of a bad guy in the first couple of episodes but then he returns and we generally understand what he’s all about. Money. We also learn a little more of what NightSiders are like.

The underlying plot of Beka and Dylan trying to talk the Persiad’s out of backing out of their treaty was a tad thin but Beka’s attempt (Insulting them) made me laugh.

I did believe Harper as a bad guy although I know a lot of my fellow Andromeda buddies didn’t think so. He’s had so much crap happen to him that he is capable of killing and being a bad ass. A lot of rage there...

It was stupid when the three were making their way through the caves and came across booby traps, then they started running from the casino guys. Wouldn't they run into more traps? Or perhaps they suddenly accquired the knowledge from thin air?

In fact, the whole getting the diary was a little too easy. But on the whole I managed to get past that and thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It was funny, exciting and Harper featured. What more could I ask?
