Halloween Wind
By: Nicole Lopez-Hagan
It slams doors and runs through your house.
Moaning and groaning,
Sighing and creaking,
whining and whistleing.
It must be a ghost, for it's not a mouse.
It plays with the cansle's flames,
twirling the smoke in the air.
It becomes the life of the Jack-O- Lantern.
The flickering grin and fierce stare.
It howls like a werewolf in heat,
While sending witches sailing across the full moon.
Over the side of their broomsticks they dangle their feet,
While on the ends their balck cats loom.
It lifts up your skirt,
Kisses your cheeks,
And whispers sweet nothings in your ear like a flirt.
It runs down your spine,
Sending chilss down your back,
And nips at your fingers and toes.
It tickles your chin,
The pulls your hair,
Making red your ears and nose.
It pulls the dry golden-brown leaves from the trees,
And chases black cats down the street.
Their hair on end,
And their tiny outstreched claws clicking on the concrete.
It carries the smells of smoke, damp rot, and more.
It carries the sounds of laughter, screaming, ackling, and the occaisional
roar.
It plucks at the spider webs,
Like a silent guitar.
Making the spiders on the web scurry
Though they don't travel far.
It bends the trees to it's will,
As they moan and sway.
They flail their branches in hopelessness,
Till it moves on and goes away.
This mischievious black spirit loves to play mean,
On the night of Halloween!
