Born in Seacouver, WA July 7 1956 to a Black mother and and Italian father, Charlie faced life as both bi-racial and under-privileged. Having grown up in an area of the city known as "The Zone". In 1977 Charlie joined the Navy and became a Navy Seal, his military career lasted 12 years. After which he opened De Salvo Martial Arts, where he met Duncan MacLeod. Later he sold the dojo to MacLeod though her stayed on as manager.

Falling in love with Balkan revolutionary Mara Leonin, he travel to her homeland with her, to help in her quest to free her people. Mara was killed by the Immortal arms dealer Andrew Cord, 3 months later Charlie met the same fate at Cord's hand. Charlie died August 31 1995.
