What is this show about?
"At the dawn of the last century, a band of explorers searched for a prehistoric world, driven by ambition, secret desires, a thirst for adventure, and seeking the ultimate story, they are befriended by an untamed beauty. Stranded in a strange and savage land, each day is a desperate search, for a way out, of The Lost World." (voice over from the opening credits)

What season is the show in right now?
As of right now (Feb. 17 2002) the show is in it's third season.

What channel is the show on in my area?
The show is "syndicated," which means that it is sold out to different local TV stations all over the world, instead of just running on one channel.
As a result, it will be a different channel for almost every city.
One exception is the cable channel WGN, which also airs new episodes on occasion.
Re-runs of episodes are currently being run on TNT at 7am.
For local channels in your area that run TLW, check out
tvguide.com or zap2it.com and do a search of your local tv listings.

Is there an address that I can write to the cast and/or crew of the show?

[Actor’s/Recipient’s Name]
The Lost World
c/o New Line Television
Promotions & Marketing
888 Seventh Avenue
New York, NY 10106

Generally it's a good idea to include a couple of bucks if you would like an autograph, not necessarily so the stars can profit from it, but the glossy photos they use for autographs, and shipping from Australia, can cost a pretty penny.

I've tried the url for the official site that is shown at the bottom of episode credits, but why won't it work?
You're most likely watching the TNT re-runs, or re-runs on another channel. That url does not currently work, because those are old episodes, and since then the show has moved it's official website to
www.newline.com/lostworld.

Who is this "Summerlee" guy I keep hearing about?
"Summerlee" was a character on the show through the first season, played by Michael Sinelnikoff.

Whatever happened to Professor Summerlee?
In the season one finale "All or Nothing", Summerlee was shot by a group of raiders, and fell off of a bridge into the river far below. One character named Tribune states that he believes he saw Summerlee floating down the river, and that the river is rumored to a way off the plateau.
After that episode, the character of Summerlee has not returned except for a few flashback scenes in the season two episode "A Man of Vision".
It was not Michael Sinelnikoff's decision to leave the show, instead it was a decision made by higher executives of the show/production company.

Do you know any of the cast members?
No, and I cannot contact them personally for you.

What happened to Malone and Veronica?
If you're wondering this, then you must be watching the third season.
Malone and Veronica are still members of the cast; the show is filmed in Australia, so as a result, the show is subject to Australian law.
Due to some Australian tax laws (which have yet, to be fully explained) the show can only have so many *non* Australian actors on the show, David Orth (who plays Malone) is Canadian, and Jennifer O'dell (who plays Veronica) is American.
Being that they are not Australian, and due to the unexplained tax law, David Orth will only be in somewhere around eight episodes throughout the third season, and Jennifer O'dell in around eighteen.
As of right now, David Orth will not appear in any more episodes for the third season, unless some agreement can be met with the Australian authorities.

Are there any DVD's or VHS's available of the series?
No, unfortunately, not at this point. There are some VCD's available of first season episodes at websites such as
allvcds.com and videomas.com.
VCD's are basically a poor mans DVD, they play on most DVD players, and also play on regular PC CD ROMS, and have just a little less quality than VHS tapes.
However, you have to be careful when buying VCD's, there is a large black market ring involved in the forging of them.

How closely does the show follow the original book by Conan Doyle?
The series follows the general idea of Doyles' book, "a band of explorers on an island full of dinosaurs." However the series has added the characters of Marguerite and Veronica, there were no women on the expedition in Doyles' book.

Where do I know the name of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle from?
You may remember him from his infamous religious battles with Harry Houdini, or more likely for such novels as "A Scandal in Bohemia," "Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," "His Last Bow," "Study in Scarlet," "The Adventure of the Speckled Band," "The Annotated Sherlock Holmes," "The Empty House," "The Hound of the Baskervilles," "The Illustrated Strand Sherlock Holmes Mysteries," "The Reigate Squires," and of course "The Lost World."

Whats this I hear about the show getting, or not getting a fourth season?
According to one of the writers of the show the situation is this.
"New Line has announced a 4th Season green light for TLW (The Hollywood Reporter, 11 Jan., ’02). This is a fantastic start, but it does not yet guarantee a new season. Like any other syndicated show, there are a few more steps before we all celebrate.

New Line is the distributor for TLW in the U.S. -- without New Line’s support, the show would not continue. However, we’re still negotiating with distributors outside the U.S. who help pay for the show. The remaining deals will take several weeks to finalize. Nothing unusual."

Is there any merchandise available for the show?
Other than the VCD's mentioned here, the only other item is a poster that used to be for sale at
newline.com but, I can't seem to find it recently, so either they no longer sell it, or my eyes just aren't what they used to be.

Where is the show filmed at?
For the most part, it is filmed in Australia.
