Note:

The derivative pres- is used as a diminutive especially for things that are smaller from their usual format, for example, prested 'pebble' from ted 'stone'; taeb (here with assimilation > taep) means a god (not God the Creator, but a numinous entity with some supernatural power); and koup 'evil' (n), which doesn't appear on its own (it comes from the adjectival root kup 'evil, morally wrong'). A taepkoup is therefore a devil, a demon, an evil spirit, or a djinn-like being; the prestaepkoupi are a metaphor for one's own traumas (what in English we also call our demons).
