Hello everyone,
I'm sorry it's been a while since the last newsletter. There's been quite a lot going on in my life these last couple of months. After driving truck over the road for about 11-12yrs I (Amy and I that is!) finally got a brand new truck! Now to some of you that probably doesn't sound like much but to us it's like buying our first home. Moving in, getting used to it (it's different, wonderful but different), and trying to get Maggie (our dog who thinks she's a kid) to accept it as her new home (whew!). Now that spring is coming freight is starting to pick up and we've been quite busy. Our favorite agent has kept us going from CA to Ohio and back again like a yo-yo. (good for the wallet but bad for the website)
Not a lot has changed on the website lately, mostly minor eye appeal changes, spelling etc... There are a couple of new pages for you to check out...
http://www.putergeek.com/dos.htm
http://www.putergeek.com/disk_partitioning.htm
and if you have time you might want to browse the rest of the site to see if I misspelled anything else (G).
IF any of you have any ideas/requests for topics, tutorials etc... please feel free to email me. While I have a lot of ideas on my list the goal for the site is to help others so don't be bashful.
In the last month nine more people have signed up to receive the newsletter. Humble beginnings I know, but in time this might actually acquire some polish to it. We now have thirty two people on the list. And I still haven't figured out the format I'm going to follow. So far it looks like the newsletter will go like this; anything exciting in my life, updates on the website, any interesting 'puter info I've picked up lately and general gossip. Sounds exciting doesn't it? Well hopefully it'll be worth what you paid for it.
Remember word of mouth is everything here. I'm working on the website to help 'puter newbies, so please tell anyone and everyone about this slightly weird but helpful website. And to the best of my knowledge I'm about the only guy that not only answers questions but encourages people to write in when they need/want help. The only payment I get or ask for is to see that hit counter go up and the occasional email thank you.
For those of you that are wondering, I get around 10-20 emails per week asking for help. The average turn around time varies between 2 hours and 10 days (in other words do I have time to stop and hook up my laptop or should I sleep). I'm able to help almost everyone who emails me. The number one question is about boot disks, primarily "how do I get my CD-ROM to work?". It seems like I can't spell it out good enough (sigh).
For those of you that love to surf the web, take a look at this site http://www.langa.com/ It's the home of Fred Langa and he has a newsletter called the langalist. It's everything you want to know about web browsers and other web type stuff.

Now all of you must sign up for Jack Teems bi-monthly newsletter at http://www.neatnettricks.com/ it's short and to the point and somewhat funny from time to time. He has all sorts of (well) neat net tricks (G) as well as Win9x tricks to share. And BTW I may be mentioned in issue 54 that will go out May 15.
Here's a tip from Lockergnome http://www.lockergnome.com that you might find handy...
The problem with using stationery in Outlook Express is that you have virtually no control over the code. However, a Lockergnomie named Linda found this killer trick for OE5 users: Open a new message, select 'View' from the menu, then click on 'Source Edit.' You should now see a set of tabs at the bottom of your message which will allow you to "WYSIWYG" edit, source code edit, and preview your message as the receiver should see it. Creative content is now a lot easier to tweak!
Anyway it's now 6:42am and we have to be in Wilmington, Ohio Monday morning so till next time...
