Coastal Fishing Areas Around Broken Bay
Over 90% of my fishing has been around the Sydney metropolitan area . Primarily most of that has been centered around the Broken Bay area . I have spent several years as a resident of the Northern Beaches of Sydney and also as a resident of the Central Coast . This has given me prime access to Broken Bay via the North and South .
Out of Broken Bay I consider the fishing sites to be classified into two different areas . The inshore reefs which are very heavily fished and the outside reefs which dont get as big a hammering . One must keep in mind that the outside reefs start at approx. 10kn miles offshore . Now for a small boat that is a fair hike out and back specially if bad weather forms . Considerations for fuel , water , safety gear etc are a must .
Note in the area named 'My Boat' I own a Quintrex Centre Console fishing boat . Not what one would think the ideal offshore boat . However I will only venture wide after considering the following . I always check the weather maps in the evenings paper . I look for storm systems and areas of high wind . So usually I know the night before where I will be fishing . I ensure all safety gear is in A1 condition . Apart from the required safety gear I carry on board 'MITCH' I carry an EPIRB and will never put to sea without my GPS . I always have a plan of attack in my mind . And ALWAYS log onto Coastal Patrols Monitoring service . I take the safety of myself , my crew and my boat very seriously and can honestly say have never come close to any mishaps !I will not be adding lists of GPS marks on my site as they can be readily found by following my Fishing Links .
