Sunny's Guide To Scratching Post

Okay, warning you now that my Scratching Post page is way suckier than ANY of the SP links provided, and any of the pictures here were taken by Patrick or Mice, or I simply ripped them off of the official Scratching Post website.

Scratching Post, The Greatest Band With The Greatest Fans!

I don't know when I started listening to Scratching Post, I think it was last spring when I heard their song Bloodflame on the radio. I really liked it and just out of curiosity, I typed www.ScratchingPost.com into my browser to see what would happen. (I do that sometimes, just type random words into an url to see what comes up.) To my amazement, there was a site, that Nicole, the lead singer, does herself! ONto the message board I clicked to find some people dissing Hole, another one of my favourite bands so I had to defend my beloved Courtney. Soon I became an SP addict, bought the CDs and the rest is history. The fact that the band are actually nice people who I love to death makes them even better than the music they play. They're working on a new album right now and I can't wait!! They already have technically three albums, the first being IMPOSSIBLE to get because they only made something like 500 copies. But the other two, which I own, Flamethrower and Destruction of the Universe are the best CDs I've bought in a long time. It's not very often I can find a CD where I like EVERY single song on it. Scratching Post CDs can be found at your local HMV store in Ontario, or you can get them online at www.HMV.com. Buy them!!

My Drunken SP Weekend

The weekend started innocently enough. Patrick & Mice, who I'd been talking to online, and had met through the Scratching Post message board, wanted to come up for the weekend to take me to two SP concerts. "Alright!" I said, "Come on down!!". They drove a million hours from Quebec to here and the rest is a really long story...

Like I've said before, Maddy LOVES Scratching Post, she even has her own SP t-shirt. In this pic, Pat & Mice are holding her. She's even wearing her own Dave tag!! "Daves" are another name for Scratching Post fans. It originally started with some people talking on the message board about how they would recognize each other at the Toronto Street Festival this past summer, where SP was playing. (They also shot the video for Rock Past It there.) Someone suggested Hello My Name Is stickers, with the name "Dave" written on them...guess it just stuck! My Drunken SP Weekend

This pic was taken at the Barrie show, which we almost missed because it SOLD OUT! We had to bribe a security beast to let us in the back way, but we got there just in time for Pants Down...in which Pat dropped his drawers and started jumping up & down. It was the first time I'd seen SP live, after being a regular on the message board for months & promoting them as much as I could. They were so nice :-)

The next night was the infamous show in Lindsay. What a night. Scratching Post had just started selling panties with their logo on it (designed by Patrick)and they had given me a pair the night before, so I was wearing them. During SP's set, Nicole was saying how their merchandise was for sale at the table in the corner and that they now had panties etc etc, when Patrick starts yelling, "Sunny's wearing hers!", so Nicole says, "Sunny, you wanna model 'em?" and down went my pants! (This was after drinking only 3 Mike's Hard Lemonades. I was pretty sober still at this point.) Later, after SP had finished playing, I went with Nicole to the merchandise table where she was signing autographs. Someone mentioned the panties, so again I dropped my drawers to model the merch. Eventually, someone helped me get my pants actually off, so there I was standing around in my underwear, completely hammered. There were drinks, literally lined up for me that people had bought me. I got offered a ton of phone numbers which I kept throwing on the ground after the guy left LOL The rest, as they say, is drunken history...
