Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon R Season 2, Part 1 (Episodes #47 - #59) The Sailors return to defend the Earth once again! |
| In this season, everyone on Earth, besides Luna and Artemis, have their memories erased of the Dark Kingdom and the Sailor Soldiers. During this time, however, two aliens named Ail and Ann appear of Earth and transport with them a large, dark tree. They land on Earth in a meteor and live in a penthouse of an apartment complex. They enroll in Usagi's school with human identities, Seijuurou and Natsumi. While there, Seijuurou falls in love with Usagi and Natsumi falls in love with Mamoru. It turns out that they feed off of energy from their tree called the Doom Tree. They must give this tree energy from humans so it will not whither away and cause them to die. They send monsters called cardians, that are created from strange playing cards, to gather human's life energy. When they send their out their first cardian, Luna and Artemis try to fight against it. Finding that they cannot defeat the monster themselves, Luna is forced to revive Sailor Moon from Usagi. Sailor Moon appears and destroys the cardian, but is sad that she must fight again and no longer be a normal teenager. She is also dissapointed that Mamoru and the others do not remember who she is. Later on, however, the other four Soldiers have to be revived as well because Sailor Moon cannot defeat the cardians by herself. At this time, Mamoru is the only person of the group who does not remember Usagi and the others. Because of this, a mysterious warrior in a white robe called the Moonlight Knight appeared. He aids the Sailor Soldiers the same way Tuxedo Mask did in the past. Usagi thinks that he is Mamoru, but he is proven not to be during the series when she sees the two of them in the same place at the same time. Also during the series, a specific cardian has trapped Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako with its spell. Usagi must transform into Sailor Moon and is forced to try to save the others. But the cardian is too strong for Sailor Moon, and she is considered to be killed by a cardian when it puts her in a strange vortex. However, Usagi is saved by the spirit of Queen Serenity who upgrades her transformation from "Moon Prism Power, Make-Up" to "Moon Crystal Power, Make-Up". After transforming, Sailor Moon returns to finally defeat the cardian, but she still cannot without a new weapon. Thus Queen Serenity grants her the Cutie-Moon Rod with her new attack "Moon Princess Halation" to destroy the cardian. After Sailor Moon's upgrade, the other Soldiers also had their attacks upgraded slightly: Venus receives "Crescent Beam Shower", Mercury receives "Bubble Spray Freezing", Mars receives "Fire Soul Bird", and Jupiter receives "Supreme Thunder Dragon". After numerous battles against the Sailor Soldiers, Seijuurou and Natsumi decide to stay home from school for a while. So one day, Usagi went to their apartment to visit them. Natsumi does not like her and wants her to leave, but Seijuurou (who is in love with her) lets her stay. Usagi was looking around and she almost entered into the room where the Doom Tree was. But Natsumi stopped her then kicked them out. The next day, Usagi came back again for another visit. While Seijuurou and Natsumi were in their kitchen, Usagi wanted to know what was in the specific room that they did not let her go in. So she opened the door and the Doom Tree's Roots came after her. Seijuurou and Natsumi saw her and saved her by simply closing the door. Seijuurou lied to her about what the tree was and Natsumi forced her to leave. Later, Usagi was talking about the incident with Ami and Makoto, until Makoto noticed something in Usagi's hair. She wacked it out with a stick and it fell to the ground. It starting moving which scared the heck out of them all. They brought it to the others and Luna and Artemis found out that is sucked energy out of life-forms. It was one of the Doom Tree's small roots. Usagi went back to Seijuurou and Natsumi's Apartment for some more snooping, but her fears stopped her from going inside. On the way, she bumped into Mamoru. He was dropping off flowers for Natsumi because he thought she was sick. He brought them to her and Usagi followed him in. Seijuurou and Natsumi invited them both in. Ann wanted to lure Usagi into the room with the Doom Tree because she knew Usagi gave off alot of energy. While Seijuurou was showing Mamoru the view of the balcony, Natsumi pushed Usagi into the room. (Keep in mind, this is not an ordinary room. It is some kind of portal to another dimension where the Doom Tree lives) One of their Cardians appeared and started to absorb Usagi's energy. The Doom Tree fed on Usagi's energy which made it grow rapidly and escape out of the room. It covered the WHOLE apartment complex with it's giant roots and sat atop the large building. The Doom Tree grabbed Usagi and Mamoru and started to absorb their energy. Ail tried to free Usagi and Ann tried to free Mamoru, but it did not work. The others came to rescue them, but Ail and Ann were too strong for them, overpowering all their attacks. Angry, Usagi transformed into Sailor Moon which surprised Ail and Ann. She tried to protect Mamoru while Ann was attacking her. Ail looked on and felt sorry for Sailor Moon. He tried to tell Ann to stop the massacre but she didn't listen. The Moonlight Knight then appeared. But Ann's powers pushed him into the Tree and his energy was absorbed with a huge flash of light and he disappeared. The Doom Tree then went crazy and tried to kill Ail and Ann. It killed Ann by driving it's roots into her when she tried to protect Mamoru from it. Ail then held her while the Tree's roots started towards Ail. But the Doom Tree stop immediatley because Ail had finally realized felt love for Ann. It emitted a huge light, then, the Doom Tree told everyone to stop and told them it's story. (Read the Doom Tree Story) Sailor Moon then purified the Doom Tree with her "Moon Princess Halation". The Moonlight Knight then appeared to Sailor Moon and told of who he really was. He was actually the strong will of Mamoru that loved Usagi and lived only for her sake. The Moonlight Knight then returned to Mamoru's body and his memory had returned to him. After, Ann was brought back to life. Ail and Ann were both healed and they took a small seedling from the Doom Tree, to a new home on a different planet were it would grow because of the love Ail and Ann shared for each other.
